| | Is it just me or are the snacks this year very unhealthy? We plan on substituting the unhealthy ingredients with healthier foods. If you have any suggestions, feel free to share. Thanks!

| | Sorry, don't meant to disparage those who are looking to have a "healthy" snack, but I LOVE this year's selection by Group and so does my staff. Oh, and since my kids are the "field testers" around here they too love them. I think that VBS is about Jesus, fun, energy and sweets! After all, with all the jumping around we need not worry about stored energy or hyperactivity. They will be worn out, but ready for more the next day, by the time VBS is over at least our kids are. Besides, it has been mentioned in another post that these are "tasty" treats and not meant to be a balanced meal. Nonetheless, there are a few "healthier" alternatives and Group has done a great job having those available this year. I am still trying to convince our Test Tube Treats Leader (my wife) to use cupcakes EVERY NIGHT! She still gets a good laugh every time I say, "How about... Day 1 Happy Face Cupcakes (Orange frosting and M&Ms) Day 2 Mucky Mud Cupcakes (chocolate frosting and crumbled Oreos!!!) Day 3 Walking on Water Cupcakes (Blue frosting and gummy bears) Day 4 Infinity for me Cupcakes (White frosting and Twizlers) Day 5 Pentecost Cupcakes (Cool whip and Strawberries) "

| | Your poor poor wife. Just let her make some snacks would ya!!! I agree though, it's VBS, not a healthfood convention. I don't think any of the snacks are over the top sugary or anything. I have a 6 & 8 year old and our VBS is in the evening and I am not concerned at all. They will be running and moving and dancing. It will all work out in the end. As a matter of fact, I'm sure most of my adult workers will be begging for those snacks at the end of the night!

| | I'm sorry if I can't ask of this but can someone tell me what the name of the snacks were? We are starting our 1st day of VBS and my test tube treats folder has gone missing...luckily I've already bought all the snacks already I just can't remember what day I use what items so if anyone could give me a heads up or some how help me out further if possible I'd greatly appreciate it. |
