We've started building our props and stage pieces. We are going to have a few "computers" populating the stage, with TV's playing some different science-y images or movies (jetsons, flash gordon, old science documentaries) with no sounds. Just for fun (and to really kick in some ADHD ;-) )
anyway... we found a super easy solution to building something and having a TV mounted in it... JUST USE THE TV CART. We've used zip ties to put cardboard on the sides of the cart (cardboard panted silvery grey). We cut out spaces for doodads and put some decorations on them. I got some yellow and black warning tape to cover the corners. We're not done with the first one yet, but I'll post pictures soon.

Best part is, I can build this prop and wheel it in storage out of the way. Sorry for the ramble, but I'm actually really jazzed about building props.

Hi Chris. That's fantastic.  How did you make the black panel with the flashing lights?  Keep up the good work

Hey,
I found the panel in Walmart, it is a board for organizing tools. I like it, it was like 4 bucks, but it's not perfect. I should have gotten a peg board from the hardware store and painted it black. The cardboard/woodlike substance would probably have held the lights individually. I like the effect I have here though. I just kept the chasing lights in their packaging holder (it was in a circle) and just twist tied it to the back.

That is way cool!  I love how you recycled (the styrofoam cooler lid on the side!)!
