| I also thought a camping theme. Another publisher did a camping theme the first year we started Group and it did look exciting. Tents, campfires, lanterns, etc...

| The more I think about it, the more I don't think it will be a camping theme, just because that could be so closely related with a ranch. Same kind of outdoorsy decor.

| | I don't think it will be camping. The whole look of the lantern isn't modern enough for it to be camping, in my opinion! Right now my best guess is castle, like some of you guys! I'm very excited for the new HolyLand Theme! --Matt

| Maybe he won't be in a castle next year....Maybe it will be training to become a knight.

| I got the card and initially noticed the "light spots" next to the lantern which I thought were lightning bugs (so the bayou makes sense), but the more I think about it, the more I think that the fact there is a candle in the lantern is significant. That type of lantern hasn't been used for a long time, so the middle ages theme makes sense. What about a Revolutionary times theme? You know, I just looked at it again, and it kind of reminds me of Peter Pan-a pirate theme? Oh, so many possibilities, so many thoughts (most of them silly). |

| | Hey - what if the spots that kind of look like fire flies were actually stars in the dark sky? It could be the big dipper. Maybe I'm reaching - but an outer space theme would be cool. "You are the light of the world." Matt 5:14 The line in the sand might be another See of Galilee type theme. If it is the fish symbol - then maybe the theme will involve Paul's missionary journey's and the Mediterranean Sea, as the fish symbol came about during the early church years. |

| | My mind has been whirling around....what if the lantern is for Holy Land...maybe heading back to Bethlehem? Lanterns in the stable at night....angels announcing his birth...star in the sky. Then the sand side would be for the Easy VBS. I would love a pirate themed one. If the lantern is the Easy VBS....bayou seems to be the theme most think of. I could see archeology....Chadder on an expedition to find the pharoah's treasure. This next year should have some old testament stories in it...since the daily Bible points should be about God this year. Just my thoughts.
For this purpose also I labor, striving according to His power, which mightily works within me. Col 1:29

| | I like something back in time---pirates perhaps. I don't think that's the right lantern for medieval stuff. Could be birth of this nation? I don't think camping either. Bayou perhaps but I don't think kids readily connect with that. We shall see!!! |

Oh why not? Mardi Gras?! Festive party! Our kids school celebrates Mardi Gras every year and kids love it. The other guesses all seem feasible to me too. Camping would be easy to decorate for....(for that matter so would bayou theme if you use the Mardi Gras aspect...). Medieval might be a challenge though...
Well at least this year we don't have to wait as long to find out!
