you can also take a pair of new nylons and cut the legs into 2-3 inch strips (making a nylon circle) and that will work as a blinder - really it's just making sure the kids keep their eyes shut - stretchy & cheap!

I had no problem finding volunteers to provide strips of scrap fabric for blindfolds.  Fabric didn't even need to be very dark since lights were dimmed.  We did this station today and it worked perfectly.

The blindfolds can't be reused mainly because they're covered in oatmeal, not just because of the lice issue.

We also did this today and I don't see how you could reuse those blindfolds!

So a couple of suggestions... We had extra hands ready to tie on the blindfolds in the hall way.  It did take some time.  Double knot the blindfolds for them to stay on tight.  My fabric had a bit of stretch to it and worked great.  And don't let the teachers/leaders immediately collect up the blindfolds which is what mine kept doing.  Ugh.

AND do be careful because a loop of fabric with a knot on the end can leave a nasty welt when one boy swings it another as hard as he can.

We got ours from Walmart @ 2.50 for 6.   We only got as many as we needed for half of the crews and then ran them through the dryer on high heat  during snack time to prevent spread of lice.  That was what was reccommended by the health department two years ago when we had a lice infestation in one of our crews.  They told us to run the blankets on high heat for 20 minutes.

Hi,
I was thinking about doing the same thing. Could you tell me what length you cut the fabric to before sewing it up? I'm not sure what size to make it.
Thanks!
