| It's a hand held punch. On the large gear I slid the hand held punch between the notches on the gear. On the small and medium gears I slid the punch onto the notches. Hope that helps!

| Just a thought on the gears....our congregation is older, but still really wants to be helpful. So on the gears we took the template and blew it up to the size we wanted then traced the gears 10 or 20 times, stacked the papers and stapled them together with the template on top.
Then Sunday at church I said if anyone wants to cut these out you don't have to do them individually (you can cut the whole stack at once) and just at your leisure bring them back to the church. Then the older people can help and do it in their own time AND AT HOME.
We did the same with 3 sizes of bubbles we want to tape to the wall. We just drew the line for them and stacked the colored paper and made 'packets' for them to take home.
We are getting over 100 bubbles and 50 gears cut out for us!!!! It's one thing the directors didn't have to do. AAAAANNNDDD some people who thought they weren't helpful at all will get to be apart of it...which is even better. |

| | These are super! Thanks for sharing!!! And to the post about getting people to do these at home: GREAT IDEA! I know of at least 1 volunteer that said she could only help if it was stuff she could do at home. I think I'll have to find some noodles and card stock this week! (did you use 12"x12" cardstock, or 8.5"x11??) Thanks!!

| | One other question: How did you cut your noodles? would just a kitchen knife do the job? and how thick are your pieces? (sorry -that was 2 questions)

| | Thank you so much! These are mobiles are AMAZING! We are using them everywhere. We are even creating two huge mobiles with two broken hula hoops. We drilled holes in the middle of each piece and attached two pieces with an an eye screw (to create an X). We will hang sets of 3 gears on each end of the hula hoop. Waa la, a very inexpensive 4 foot diameter decoration. Thanks! |

| | Use an electric knife to cut the noodle. I bought a large one at Longs that is already shaped like a gear. I cut them about 1/2 inch each and got 97 out of 1 noodle. |
