Does anybody know another name for test tube a-loons? My Power Lab is only two weeks away and the tube a-loons are on back order. I'd like to search other places but don't know what to call these things.

I bought a kit from Steve Spangler and they were in there.  The kit is called Air Mazing.

are the tube-a-loons kind like what the sports fans use to make noise when shots are made in Basketball???

If you're ever looking for alternative materials, I would check PartyCity.com or OrientalTrading.com. They have a lot of great products.

Oriental Trading also seems to have a lot of sciency items. What a coincidence!

I have also read that folks are using a liner roll from a Diaper Genie and just cutting it to 8' lengths.  Might be much faster and cheaper, although less colorful!

If you haven't had a tube a loon before, they are 8' long tubes that are made out of a material very similar (although a little sturdier) to the stuff they make plastic grocery bags out of.

The diaper genie refills actually work better than the original test tube a loons.  We cut them in 8 foot lengths and tied off the one end.  If you have someone hold the tied end straight out in front and blow from 10" away it will fill up with air.  You can get alot out of one diaper genie refill pack.  They smell good too!!!!!

we wanted all of the kids to have one to take home, but with 350-400 kids at vbs the cost was a bit prohibitive but one had as i was pulling a local paper out of a plastic bag it hit me! a mini test tubealoon! i called the paper (our local gazette) and they put me in charge with distribution who was going to give them to me for a penny, then 1/2 a penny and then donated them when she realized i needed 400, not 4000! (but can you imagine 4000 kids at a vbs! WOW). the kids will be decorating them with stickers (science themed) and i'll let you know how it goes over. Just wanted to share

You can also find them on their website www.group.com.  Just type in Tube-a-loons in the search box, and voila, they have another kind (longer, 6 feet).  They are little bit more expensive, $7.99 for five tube-a-loons, but I cut all of them in half and they are just fine.

I just found out that my local newspaper will donate the plastic bags I need in place of Test tube a loons.  They're clear but I plan to use that Plastic spray paint to make them look like fire for Faith Fusion Finale for Day 5.
