Does anyone know of any extra activities I can do with the kids? After I have completed the days lesson, I have about 10-15 min left over.

You could either elaborate on the questions or allow them to choose their daily challenges.  I am letting my kids choose their challenges during this station, since I feel we have more time left in this station than in other stations.  You could get the chadder puppet or have someone dress up as chadder and do a skit.  I am amazed you have that much time left over, how much is alloted for this station?  We allow 20 minutes and usually have 5 minutes extra.  With the movie, questions, Power packs, Bible buddies and experiments it takes at least 15 minutes to let everyone have a chance.

Blessings,

I am in Squeaky Beaker's preschool. We only have the children on the VBS workers. Preschool ages are not open to the public. There are quite a few things we don't have like Power packs and Bible buddies (we do have the Bible Buddy posters). There is absolutely no way I would let 3 & 4 year olds do the experiments themselves. (Day one we did the Fizz experiment; we did it on a table so all of the kids could see, but we didn't let the kids try) I always include the Bible Buddy characters like the literature says, but I know they do not get the actual Bible Buddies. I have a Chadder puppet but I almost had to beg for it.

challenges? I've never heard of the preschool doing those. I am stretching everything out as long as I can.

Our stations last 25 min. with an extra 5 min. for them to change stations.

We did Avalanche Ranch last year and had the same problem in Preschool with Chadder's Theater.

Sorry, I didn't realize you meant preschool.  I actually did the preschool chadder last year and we still only had about 5 minutes to kill, but our station was 20 minutes long.  I talked to the kids at the begining about the point and story, asked some questions.  Went over the Bible buddy, showed the video and asked those questions.  Then we acted out the Power Verse as described in the manual.  Then we did the activities in the manual. You could make up a coloring take home page with the Bible Buddy to give out in place of the buddies - we give the buddies to the preschoolers, but certainly understand budget restraints.  The kids liked acting out the power verse, so we did it several times.  We also gave them m&ms and juice during this station.

Yes, the preschoolers do daily challenges, but they are from the power packs, we don't order those either - budget.  We do however make up or go with the example power pack for the challenges.  You could always allow the kids to practice the songs during your spare time.

Oh yeah, I let each child say a prayer, these were very touching and surprising.

What about using the experiments from the elem chadder in addition to your experiments - just you preform all of them, not the kids?

Blessings,

Lisa in FL

Cassie, could you print out the coloring pages on the freebies section of the website for the kids to color?

Why won't you let the kids do the experiments?  I think it would be fun!

This will be our first year doing Chadder's Theater! We won't be having a snack station - so, we are hoping to serve some kind of a treat during Chadder's Theater... like a bag of chips one night and maybe some popcorn on another night... cookies, pretzels, etc. I'd appreciate any feedback - Do you think this will work? Are the lessons hands-on? Will there be enough time?? Thanks for any help!

We have combined snack and Chadder for several years in our preschool age level with success.  They haven't had any problems fitting it in a 20 minute time period.

Extra time could be used to listen to/sing the songs being taught in Sonic Sing & Play so that the children learn them well. Colouring pages of the buddies could also be used to fill up the time in this station.

I incorporated the extra few minutes into a time we called "Crews Control".  It was a great time for the crew leaders to spend just chatting with their kids about the days events and question, comments etc.  It was also a good time for them to look through their Bible guides ( if you have them) otherwise, I think it's just good crew leader bonding time.

For preschoolers could you add some silly time or wiggly time.   Get them up and moving.   Have them imitate you doing silly things.   Play music and have them play follow the leader.   We find our preschoolers need a little unstructured time.
