| | Missy, You may have answered this already, but how did the "fire" work for Bible Blast the last day go for you? Did you do it the way it said with crepe paper? I also sent you an e-mail about your take home pages. Did you do those? Can you send me it? (You should have my address in your mailbox). Thanks! M

| | I'm not Missy, but I can answer about the fire! We did not do the crepe paper as written because the ceiling in our BB room was way too high. So what we did instead was to create a little looping fire video and rear project it onto a sheet hung between two ladders. Roger simply sat down in a chair and then while the kids were wandering around, the flames magically "appeared" over his head. Of course, this does require a laptop and projector, but it was REALLY cool and the kids loved it. I have the video available if anyone wants it. (I'm at work and I can't remember the location of the upload, but I'll post it later! LOL)

| | Thank you Peggy...that sounds cool. I actually never made it over to Bible Blast that last day, so I didn't see if it worked or not. I never heard any complaints, so I'm sure it did!

Heather - Are you using the Catholic version? I am also from a Catholic Church and have been using Group for 8 years, even before I knew there was a Catholic version. For each station, Harcourt does provide a "Catholic ID" section that ties in each day to the Catechism of the Catholic Church. For instance, on Day 3 during Sing and Play, the Catholic ID discusses the Sacrament of Confirmation and the gifts of the Holy Spirit - one of those being fortitude (courage), tying it into the Bible Point of the day. Theresa Yes, I do have the Catholic version, but since we are not doing Sonic Sing and Play as it is written I am incorporating the Catholic ID into my opening script.

| | Just a piece of advice to all of your Power Lab VBS Directors: From personal experience, Group's VBS works best when it's done as it is written. Sure churches can tweak it a little bit to fit their needs but it works best how Group writes it. That's why Group goes through all the work of doing a field-test and seeing what works and what needs help before they finish their curriculum. God Bless, Josh T. in Ohio

| | Greetings Missy! I am just wondering how you made out with day 3 and the cornstarch. As director, this is a concern because all the topics I read about on the forum are not really being that specific. It sounds like it is best to go slow with adding the water to the cornstarch and mix it up in smaller batches first. What does the 'right' consistency look like? How did it work out for you? What ratio did you use (water to cornstarch)? Did the kids love it? Did you add the blue food coloring? Did the coloring stain their feet? I plan on doing this outside as it sounds like so much fun but messy. Thanks - Elaine |

| | Hi Heather Don't despair, be of good cheer and courageous! God is with you and He is for you and He will help you! Someone suggested approaching people one on one. That sometimes helps, or perhaps the Pastor can make an announcement and ask for helpers. Perhaps you don't need such a large crew and can pull people from one crew and put them on another. Perhaps some people can double up. For instance, once registration is done, maybe that person can help later with crafts. Perhaps once the music crew is done, some of them can help out somewhere else, etc. As a VBS director for a few years it is a lot of work, but I have a ton of fun and get blessed in so many ways! Sometimes I have been director, and a teacher, and then in the midst of it help all departments, all at the same time, but I have always found God to be faithful and pull me and everyone else thru! Trust Him. Hope this helps blessings - Elaine |

Thanks - Elaine Hey Elaine...as a director with a great Bible Blast person that takes the packet and I don't have to worry about it, I have to answer honestly and say I don't know. I did not hear of any problems and actuallly heard that was the night that ran the smoothest. I will be doing Power Lab again next week and will have to do it myself so I am going to take the tips I read on the forum about the slow and the ratios. Those tips from that post on the "Other Stations" thread, are probablly your best bet. That is what is so great about this community...lots of help!!!
