HELP HELP HELP!!!  I am cutting the 5 bible theme signs (helpfulness, thankfulness, bravery, eternity, good news) from 1 inch foam.  The letters are just to small and I've ended up butchering the letters.  Should I be using a hot wire instead of the hot knife?  My hot knife has a two straight-bladed attachment which worked fine for cutting the larger letters and the beakers, but it's just too big for the size of the smaller letters.  I've pretty much given up.   Unless someone gives me any advice, I will probably scrap this idea and cut the letters from white paper and glue them onto black foam pieces.

I haven't done those words YET but...I have done the BB's names and instead of cutting each letter out I cut around the whole word really close and then plan to paint the letters the colors I want and then the NEGITIVE (white) space I'm gonna paint black that way it disapears...hope that helps!

Faith doesn't get you around trouble, it gets you through it!

We cut out our letters using a $20 Craft Knife from Hobby Lobby.  It works great on any smaller letters and the inside of the larger ones!  If you use alot of foam for decorations it is a good investment.

We traced the letters and cut out the boards to the suggested shape.  We then painted the boards white (we could still see where we traced the letters with a Sharpie) and THEN painted the area around the letters black.  Much, much easier, and you can't tell the difference from 5 ft away.

I knew that would be a hot knife nightmare as soon as I saw those letters on the dvd...

We cut the sign boards out of foam and painted them black.  I asked a crafty teenager to pencil "bubble letters" on posterboard, and another person cut them out, and we glued them to the boards.  They looked fantastic.  I had a hard enough time with the "life change in progress" sign, so there was no way I was going to tackle all those letters!!
