| | We are into day 2 Vbs... having a powerful blast. Tomorrow going to try the dry ice prop. The bubble machine makes a BIG mess and noisy. I wish to thank you all for the ideas and help, may God's blessing be on each of you.

| | Joe....It tooks great!!! I was noticing the bubble mess myself when I tried this small bubble machine I got at Walmart for $5. While my kids LOVED it...it left this film all over the place and our Pastor is a stickler when it comes to messes. So I think that I'm gonna place it out side the door where we are doing VBS. Love the Lab table....so AWESOME!!! Blessings

| | That shelving unit is SPECTACULAR and is just the prop I've been looking for. Thank you so much for posting. When you have time, I'd love some more info on it. Rene

| Rene, the shelving unit was this years biggest boo-boo or second to the bubble machine. I built the unit using 1/2 foam. I do like the Loctite "grab-it" glue, which then I used shish kebab sticks from the dollar store to stiffen the joints. I built the unit 4 feet by 4 feet and after the shelves it was added it was still wobly. I got the ideal to add the bracing between the shelves but still not very ridgid. My next thought was to add foam core board to the back... but not until I had it painted... well that didnt happen. I built a 4X4 wooden frame to hold this unit upright. Next time (lol) I would build it from wood!

| | Thank you for the heads up. Actually, around here the cost of 4x8 AC wood is only $5 more than foam so I had already been thinking I'd be making the desk out of wood. Plus, the extra sturdiness would increase my comfort level with putting heavier things on it. I'll plan on a wood frame for sure and maybe 2x2's for the shelves? Maybe a big piece of cardboard support for the backing. Still not sure about the light ... did you do more like a spotlight or like an under-cabinet light? I'm looking at Atomic Glow for some of the bottles so maybe a black light and fluorescent paint? This really is JUST what I've been looking for so THANK YOU, THANK YOU. Okay Groupies ... I'm planning the shelving unit of Joe's (Joe ROCKS!) and Group's idea of flasks and beakers representing the Bible points. I think I want my background mural (12x30) to be like a Dr. Seuss style lab. Maybe paint up a Whoville car standee with all the gizmos. We've got two dozen or so of the books ... can anyone think of which story might have a picture of a lab-like setting like what I'm looking for? Otherwise, I'll hunt through those tonight. Thanks!
