Our VBS (Shiloh Foursquare, Idaho Falls) starts June 23, and we recently finished our decorating. Here are some pics! We have a small budget so all we do is cheap, cheap, cheap with volunteer child labor (my and friends' kids - haha). We use mostly images projected on cardboard, done with Marks-A-Lot markers and inexpensive acrylic paints. Most pics have discriptions and tips, and we have seven years working experience with Group VBS. We've learned a lot through trial and error; we'd absolutely love for you to freely use any ideas you see if you like them. WE UPDATED THE LINK and it should work! | Wow! I love your decorations, I was thinking about doing something quite similar to my space. We kind of have the same space set-up. For your cardboard decorations, I assume that you make transparences of them and then make them bigger with an overhead projector, but I would really like a pattern for your baskets (like the ones on either side of your stage), Posters (the ones in the display cases), and the plam trees. E-mail: actorgeek@cox.net Thank you so much!

| That is AMAZING! It takes me back to the days when we used to do Group's easy VBS. I always made great big painted cardboard cutouts of the Bible Buddies and we took the kids' pictures with them. But, good grief -- I never did as many as you! The kids must've flipped when they saw all that!!! I laughed out loud at your remark about the 8' woman! I have some clipart that works fantastic for this application. It's from a company called Cliptures. They have a CD called "Bible Images" (#49 on their list) and it has a graphic for just about every Bible story you can think of. They're all a nice, simple drawing and you can print them in color, or in a coloring book black & white outline format. I used to print the coloring book format on a transparency and make cutouts for Sunday School lessons all the time. I noticed today that they also have a CD titled "Jewish Holidays" (#51) that has some great graphics for Holyland use. It looks like most of their CDs are on sale for $5 apiece, so check them out!

Wow! You really have put a lot of work into all that. It looks awesome. We have pretty much decorated with sheets, baskets, fake trees, and whatever we can find that our church already has or we are able to borrow or buy for cheap. Our VBS has a completely different look, but I love how yours has turned out.

| Matt! Not ignoring you. The original art was drawn with Vis-a-Vis Marker and subsequently washed off the transparencies. I had my husband re-draw them and now my email is being uncooperative. I will forward them to you as soon as I can get things working. My husband also plans to post them on his website along with colored pictures for suggested painting references. Thanks for being patient; I will get them to you as soon as I can.

This is a work in progress for the last seven years. This is our fourth year doing the Holy land adventure. We've worked about 40 hrs /wk for 3 weeks. It always takes longer than you imagine, but it's FUN! Most everything is new, the biggest exceptions being the outdoor decorations (which I will post elsewhere), Jael's Rest, and the Museum. We did add the 10 Commandments & Jonah's hat. Every year we do a different mural for the stage, but the sanctuary camel is from 2 or 3 years ago. He's seen better days. . . eventually he'll be our four stump camel.

| Amy - Thank you for the kind words. We actually only did three cutouts, and I neglected to add they too are new this year. Once we get the stands on Him, we'll post a pic of the finished VBS Jesus. The glue was still drying Sunday night. I suppose we should look into those CDs, but I really enjoy making my husband come up with new stuff to draw. I get such a kick out of watching him make stuff for me! I think he likes it, too.

| Dawn- us too. We decorated the sanctuary with mismatched sheets on all the walls. You can project and cut out more realistic figures as well. Crosses, camels, rock walls, palm trees, etc. Making them yourself, when you can get someone to help you put in the work . . . it doesn't get much cheaper than that!
