| | Since the Cinema Science Kits are sold out and I've been unable to purchase one from another church, can anyone tell me what's included in the kits? Maybe I can piece together the necessary items from other sources. Our VBS starts one month from today. Yikes!! Thanks!! |

| | Per Group's PL catalog it had the following: 5 Hubba bubba hex nuts 1 bag of expando powder 21 sheets of reactor paper 1 test tube-a-loon 5 invsi-pens 21 balloons This is enough supplies for five crews in each rotation (that would be up to 100 kids). So if you have five crews per rotation, then the above quantity would be enough. If you do a search on "cinema science kit" then you will find a bunch of threads that will help you find these items.

| We couldn't get the kit either.
Expando powder can be found by disecting a few disposable diapers. It is the material in the diapers that absorbs the wetness.
Hex nuts can be gotten at the hardware store.
Reactor Paper is an AstroBright gold that turns red when sprayed with Windex. I took windex to the store with me. I finally found it at Office Max. Just ask the copy people to let you spray the gold and goldenrod papers. They look at you weird, but when it worked at Office Max, the worker had an AHA! moment.
Test Tube aloons can be made from a diaper genie refill.
Balloons can be from your daily challenge balloons.
I found invisible ink pens on ebay that had a built in black light. Just google invisible ink pens to find many resources.

| | My Chadder's Theater leader suggested using beads instead of hex nuts for the balloons. If the balloon pops when it's being shaken a bead has less risk of hurting someone. Liz |

| | I couldn't get the Science Kits either, though I ordered them WAY ahead of time. This is the first time that I ran into this with Group. We had a great teacher, who did her own thing, and it worked out fine... I also couldn't get a few other things that would be back ordered, and not in time for our VBS. June16-20.. It is over, and it was another awesome year! The music is what is very special, and we work the music into it's own class every year. I do the opening and the closing, and we have a teacher who does music each year. This way, the kids get to focus on the songs, learn them,,, and use them all year long. We use the DVD over and over in our Sunday School Openings, etc. It is such a joy to hear my 3 year old Grandson sing ' OH NO, HE NEVER LETS GO..... while going to the grocery store... and he knows the signs too!! There was a dissapointment that there wasn't any songs that were really good for the little ones.... we used "awsome God" as one of theirs from last year. I would encourage Group to have at least 2 or 3 songs for the little ones to do.... All in all, it was another great year,,,, lots of work... but worth it all to see the faces of the little ones... and hear their voices raised in praise to our AWESOME GOD! God bless all who are still in the works... my prayers and thoughts are with you. Gail |
