To my surprise, the youth group I recently stepped up into the leadership position has never had a lockin!

So I am going to do an "end of summer" one and would love some ideas to keep them occupied.  We will be in a large gym and have access to a large yard.  So games and ideas that are fresh and exciting would be good.  I even thought about doing a "mystery" dinner theater type thing where they all have characters they have to dress and act like and discover the "whodoneit".  But, again my brain is fried with everything I have had to recently take on.

So if you could help me out--I would appreciate it!

Wow, I rarely ever respond to a forum, but was looking up info to use for this week's teen camp with our youth group....and our theme is the Bible verse you signed with. Our youth are pivotal points in their...most are entering Jr. High, High School, and College. We felt this was the idea time to address conforming vs. transforming. I would appreciate any info or ideas you have concerning this. We will have t-shirts that say : Be ye not conformed... Be ye Transformed...but wish I had thought of "Non-Conformist". Thanks for the "confirmation" of the right idea for camp.

Hey there!

Yea, it is one of my favorite scriptures ever since I saw it as a "social hazard" tshirt.

I love the scripture bc I try to implement in the youth that they do not have to be like everyone else.  Do not let the world mold you but let God mold you.  Ya know?

That is awesome that you are using it for your youth!  My direction with my own youth group is Living in Faith.  Matthew 17:20.  Their group name is L.I.F.E. (living in faith everyday) and their tees are going to have a heart life line that has a cross part of the lifeline and on the back the scripture with "Welcome to my L.I.F.E."

I am glad you found confirmation in my quote!  God is good that way

I may be chiming in a little late but I have a great idea if you can just find one anymore.  Group used to publish (and I am going back a good ten years here) what they called Bible Mystery Events. I think they published four of them. It is an out of the box program complete with dinner ideas and decorating themes. Titles published include "The Case of the Missing Professor" "Murder at Vold Castle" and "The Great Circus Caper". I can't remember what the fourth one was called. I am also in search of one of these which I am going to start a new post for.  I used Murder at Vold Castle at our last lock-in the youth loved it. The are begging for another one. The search is on. The problem for me is that I need it by Wednesday. Not likely to happen but I shall try.

Another great resource one of my youth found and just texted to me a few minutes ago is www.host-party.com.  They have downloadable murder mysteries. Careful in the selection though...it looks as though some may have adult themes.  they have some specifically for teenagers too.  Not Bible based but it looks as though they would be fun.  They look to be reasonably priced as well.  Hope this helps.

I am sure this response is late, but thought it might be helpful to someone else.

In June we had our first weekend lockin and we went with the Amazing Race Theme.  We have 3 different areas around town which represented each day (Friday night & 2 on Saturday).  Each "day" had different challenges and followed the theme of the show.  Some were challenges that only one person could perform, while others were team challenges.  It was lots of fun.  We timed when each team came in to the finish line and let them leave earlier than others the next "day".

I had gone around town getting prize donations from different stores, so at the end many of the kids (not just the winners) won prizes.

We closed off the Saturday night with a music and devotional time.

If you want more info on different tasks, let me know.

In Christ,

Figured I'd throw into the conversation - Sardines was always a favorite for us when I was a teen at lock-ins.
