Hello to all small churches. I just wanted to warn you that the mega beaker holds a lot of balloons we had to add balloons to the mega beaker so that it would over flow on the last night. We only have about 40 kids. The big churches likely fill it each night, but we barely reached the "simmering" level by the 4th night.

Thanks for the tip. I bought some beach balls at Hobby Lobby with crosses on them and will use them to fill in with the balloons.

Well, if your church is as small as our, we allowed each child to put in his/her balloon.  This encouraged individual repsonse to the daily challenge.  It really didn't take that much time and they loved participating.

About how many balloons will the Mega Beaker hold? If you could give me an estimate, that would be great so I know how many to order.

Our VBS usually has at least 50 kids, so I may need to sneak a few balloons in the Mega Beaker when the kids are at the other stations.

The bigger the balloons the better!  Our church averaged 40 kids a night at our VBS.  We bought the packages of balloons Group offered.  They were very small and hard to blow up.  We ended up going to the store and buying packages of 12" balloons and blowing all of those up as well.  By commencement night, we had finally reached the top of the beaker.

We had 39 this week and did the same thing. We ended up borrowing one from another church because we filled one up in two nights!

We used 12" balloons, filled pretty full, and it took about 100 to fill it (3 days).  On Friday we tried to roll tape to attach them to the sides but found the easiest way was to run a strip of clear packing tape from the top and stick 3-5 balloons to each strip.  It used more tape but really looked like the balloons were flowing down the side.  It also went a lot faster.
