I'm involved in a new community ministry, where many Christians from lots of area churches are working together to bring Power Lab to kids in the community, churched, unchurched, anybody.  We're starting with a big camp preview night, with registration and keeping the whole family together for the first night.  We're actually doing part of Night 5, so the kids will hear the message to "go tell!" then they'll bring their friends back all week for the other nights' lessons.  Has anyone done anything like this?  We have no clue how many kids to expect, but one of the churches in the area has had about 100 kids each year.  They're not doing anything this year, so we're hoping with good advertising and exposure, we'll have many more.  We're intentionally not choosing to use items that will be per child, so that we can handle as many as will come.  We can always go buy more food!  I'd love some tips or advice.

Oh!  I want a cool avatar.  How do I get one?

Blessings to all my Groupie friends.  I've been a lurker forever!

Help me out, folks.  I need some tips to make registration and lesson nights go smoothly, no matter how many kids we have come join us. I've never done VBS outside, open to everyone, and I want it to run really nice.  I think we have enough help, with plenty of teachers and assistants.  I have requested  jr. praise team for helping with the worship time, and crew leaders, of course.  I wish I had confidence that it's all going to work out.

email Josh. I Know he did a VBS in the park. Peggy of Ohio has done one in a school and a community center but Josh is the only one I know for sure did one in the park. He has been posting recently in Hot topics and crocodile Dock. Just go to his post and and at the bottom is a place to click on email that will go directly to him.

Have confidence, Shawn! Day 2 - Jesus Gives Us The Power to Help Others!!
It just struck me as funny when I read your last post & you questioned your confidence. I got an email from my Sonic Sing & Play Leader tonight asking me if I'd play a part in tomorrow's skit (because of construction on our church campus this summer, we're doing our VBS during the Children's Church hour, using 2 Sundays to cover each day). It's from the Day 2 Faith Fusion Finale & one of the lines I have is that I'm not feeling very confident. God will give you & your crew the power to reach out to many families! And He's working through others to give you guidance. Best wishes - sounds like a very cool plan.

Hi Shawn!

my church meets in a school so we don't have a church building to hold our VBS therefore we have been holding our VBS in a park for the past 8 years. While it definitely has it's challenges, it's such an incredible outreach to the community. Last year we had a large Seek family join us. We also had a homeless mom with 3 kids that were very blessed for attending our vbs. Because we didn't have a tv or anything, we couldn't do the Spotlight Drama or Chatters Theater, so we made the rotations a little longer. We meet from 6:00-8:30 pm and it runs pretty smooth. The biggest challenge is to keep the kids from wanting to go to the playground.

If you need anything else you can email me and I will help you any wy I can. powermomma34@aol.com

Be Blessed,

La Risa
