Many of us have directed VBS or assisted in one way or another for many years. Others are just getting their feet wet. Regardless of our experience we should all be prepared spiritually and emotionally to expect the inevitable, which is an imminent attack from the enemy of God and our souls. VBS is not just a Summer program for kids. It is, above all, a commitment to obey Christ's command to preach and teach the gospel. It is an open door to sharing God's love with children and adults alike and the opportunity to change their lives for ever. That is why I said to prepare for opposition. From the simplest of incidents to major setbacks, the devil will most likely attempt to discourage you and hopefully prevent VBS. Perhaps he may not stop VBS all together, but if he can get you to loose focus and worry about the "not so important" things he will have succeeded nonetheless.

Maybe you're saying, "been there done that" and you feel that you are more than ready to face whatever may come,but rest assure that Satan is ready for you as well. He is working on a new scheme to try to bring you down. I write this to encourage you, to bless you, and remind you to take time to pray and recharge during your busy planning, bargain shopping and decorating.  Put on the FULL armor of God starting today and to "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. To acknowledge him in all your ways and He will surely to direct your path." But if you should happen to get wrapped up in the excitement rest assure that PJ will most certainly be holding you up in prayer. From now until your VBS is over. I will be fighting for you and for me as we together commit ourselves to this ministry and allow God to use us for His honor and glory.

it can be overwhelming at times, but we just have to remember who really is in charge, the one upstairs and stay focused on Him and the mission we are on, saving lost souls, telling children about Jesus who may never have heard about Him the way they will at VBS, this is what it is about...those precious little children connecting with God and His amazing love. it is worth fighting for

I, too needed to hear that now.  Getting ready for Sunday nite Family which I decided (last week) to turn into a VBS promo. Ugh.

I woke up yesterday feeling overwhelmed at how much I 'had' to do...then I thought of Connie and how I have committed to praying her through her trials right now. 

After, I realized I a AM ready!  I know the Bible story, point, verses, buddies and more!  That's what VBS is about.  I wanted to dazzle everyone with my decorations, take pictures and dazzle you all too...but we are building a KINGDOM!!  Talk about dazzling!

Pam ~  I am sorry the adults are not so excited about the big premier of MOE!!  But I guaruntee the kids will!   ( I wish I could go!)
