| Hello everyone, I'm Kathy and I will be joining the trip to Peru! I have been working with Girlfriends Unlimited for a year and a half now and I can't wait to see what God has in store for us. It exciting to think about the life-changing, life-stretching moments this trip will bring for us and for the women in Peru. I've always enjoyed camping and have learned to live with living in grubby clothes for a while...I have a feeling that this is going to be a whole other animal, though!

| Before I spend $100.00 on a Yellow Fever vaccination, can someone verify that we actually do need it? It says yes according to the CDC website. What other vaccinations do we need? Hepatitis A? Hopefully those that have been there can supply an answer. Thanks!

| In response to the vaccination question, there are no required vaccinations. You should talk to your health care provider about any recommended immunizations.

| Hi Suzanne: I'm wondering if you're my "roomie" for the Machu Picchu trip. I was assigned a Suzanne for that pre-boat trip. If so, 'Hello!" If not, I'll see you on the boat...and I know you'll do just fine coming "alone." A boatload of women will prevent any time for "alone", I'm sure! ha! If you are my roomie....know I'm so excited about going to Machu Picchu. I've even done some extra hiking this summer and read a kind of fun book called Sunflowers that was about a trip to Peru. The references to the geography and history was neat!

Great to hear from you - and I do appreciate hearing about working shoes/boots as I hadn't thought about that. As you've worked with the villages in the past, can you give some examples of work we may encounter while on this trip? I was going to try to learn Spanish...but....it appears the basic Spanish greetings and lots of smiles and nonverbal communication is what they'll be getting from this lady! I'm looking forward to hearing about the adventure plans.

Hola, Jeanne, and yes I am your "roomie". And that is about all the spanish they'll get out of me, too! Other than the uno, dos tres, that everyone seems to know. I guess we'll muddle along together. Maybe I'll look into that book you read. Sounds like it could be helpful. The handbook we received had a list of things to bring and it said skirts for women and shorts for the boat, but someone else in this blog said skirts aren't necessary. Are you as confused as I am as to what to bring? I even went out and bought a bunch of skirts as I didn't own any. If it's as hot as they say it will be, wouldn't long pants be too hot? What to wear, what to wear?? I look forward to meeting you. My husband tells me I snore, so I'll bring the earplugs!!

| Greetings from the state of Texas!!! Let me introduce myself,Selma Johnson, from Weatherford, Texas (actually I live in the rural area between Peaster and Poolville). I'm excited about this trip to Peru!. I'm one of Groups Real Ambassadors and I've been a "Groupie" for a long time! I'm very adventurous and love to meet new people. I've also was part of the dream team with Patty, Lisa, Laura Griener, for womens ministry at Group. I'm also known as the "Prayer Bear Lady" at Group! Girlfriends Unlimited is making history wtih this trip! I love Girlfriends Unlimited! 2 years ago I traveled to Sri Lanka, for 3 weeks speaking to groups of women over there and got to see and be in the villages affected by the Tsunami. What an experience! Last year I traveled to Hydrabard India, and went on to Tenalli India, spent 3 weeks speaking to pastors, wives and helped trained people in 9 ophranages. The boat sounds like heaven to stay on compare to some of my accomadations in India!! I've decided the Lord only wants me to go to very hot, humid areas! Guess I haven't learned what He wants to teach me yet!!!!!: Someone mentioned first time out of the country. I traveled to both of these countries by myself as this was an individual invitation! So I tell people, if I can do it anyone can, God is always my pilot. And yes, I do have adventures and stories. The Lord has always blessed me in special ways with the other cultures. Fashion, I'm taking scrub pants (loose fitting), and T Shirts, and they can be left there for the natives . I've found this works great! Wear one good outfit over and return in it! A rollon Dufflebag, carryon backpack has worked the last 2 years. Plus I took 300 prayer bears in the dufflebag last year with no problem. Amy I've already sent Joani an email about taking prayer bears and she is checking onitGreat communcation item with everyone! You know me and my prayer bears! So glad we all can get to know each other through this forum. Looking forward to meeting everyone that I don't already know!

| Hi Suzanne: Got your question about clothes. I take the stance that check-in luggage may be lost, so I make sure to have a couple of outfits in my travel-on bag that I assume I'll wear the entire trip! ha! So, it's sturdy, hiking sandals, pair of capris with a couple of shirts and one skirt coming on board with me...and lots of baby powder! :-) I'm so looking forward to seing Machu Picchu! I've always been amazed at the beauty of that place in books...and now to see it! WOW!!! I'm looking forward to hearing about your home ministry as we minister the village people in Peru. One neve knows how others and one's self will be blessed during the process. Humbling, for sure. Enjoy the anticipation of getting ready...looking forward to meeting you. Don't worry about the snoring....I'm either dead to the world at night..or...wide awake thinking about stuff....snores won't get in the way! If they do...expect a jab!! :-)
"Cheers!' Jeanne

| Hi Jeanne, I'm on page three of The Sunflower. Oh my gosh!! Hand sized spiders??? Did I forget to say that I HATE spiders? We don't have many spiders in Montana. Just little bitty ones. Somebody better get the defibulator ready because if a spider lands on me, I'll probably have a heart attack! Do I dare read on? I guess this trip will either make me or break me. Let's pray it's not the latter. See ya soon! Suzanne
