I got some post it notes at JoAnn's. They were star shaped with bubbles on them. The kids loved going out and putting them on the leaders and helpers. We did not warn the staff so they were surprised when a swarm of kids came at them and a star appeared on them. This happened in Bible Blastl.

O.K.  I'm totaly confused!!!  Does this mean I need to have the Science kit for Chadder's Theater?  Our camp is July 28th and I'm starting to feel overwhelmed.

I've tried to find a church to connect with here in NJ, but no one answered my emails.  Just keep us in your prayers, as I've kept all of you in mine.

We never got the Cinema Science kit (our VBS starts Monday the 21st) but thanks to all the input and help from these forums I was able to find most items as follows:

Balloon & Hex nut:  Balloons at Party City, hex nuts at Ace hardware

Ivisible Ink Pen & Black Light:  I found "Invisible UV pens" that come with a small black light at Office Max...they were in the office security area next to the "counterfeit pens".

Expando Powder:  I went to Green Thumb garden center and bought a jar of "Soil Moist" granules...came home and mixed 1 Tablespoon with 1/2 cup of water and it worked....practice a little...it doesn't stay in the cup upside down forever!

Reactor Paper:  TIP:  When you call the office supply stores they will not know that true goldenrod paper reacts with amonia which is why I just drove there with my bottle of Windex!  I went to the Staples (office supply store) copy center and took a bottle of Windex with me.  I met the NICEST guy who brought out samples of all of his "gold", "goldenrod" paper and let me try them with 'Windex fingers' and we found one that works beautifully.  I believe it is "Astrobright Galaxy Gold" paper...I tried to buy it but he insisted on donating a stack "for the kids"....I will be a customer for life!

Test tube balloons:  We won't need those as we are going to a Science Center on the last day for a field trip but I saw on other postings that a Diaper Genie refill bag is supposed to work...

Hope this helps and good luck!

Although I seemed to have lucked out in what I ordered in June from Group, i.e. nothing except the adorable and inexpensive kids T-shirts,  was backordered, I totally agree that Group lets all of us down when things run out in June.  Here in the Northeast the kids don't get out of school until the last week of June so our VBS does not happen until July (and I'm moving it to August next year!).  For the past 3 years there is always something back ordered however in fairness I have to report that I always receive it just in time. I could do without the ulcer wondering if it will be in or not!

Re Cinema Science and the Science kit, I nixed the science kit and combined Bible Blast with the Chadder video and discussion for a 25 minute station.  It worked out very well; I am so glad I did not do the science kit.

My suggestion to Group would be "Keep it simple, sweety." We finish tomorrow and I really liked the program. The PL music is awesome and ALWAYS my deciding factor in which program I pick.  I am so glad I did not have to worry about constructing something made of wood! The Bible village made out of boxes is just my speed.

Another hint for backordered goods: Try Ministry Loft in NC or Harcourt.

God bless

I've haven't seen the stickers online. What are they for? Do they need to write on them? Do you need a different buddy for each day? I've given my Bible Blast guide to my station leader and she is out of town. I also have on my list that she needs "Power Blab" stickers. Is that the same thing or maybe it was a typo. I mentioned before that I'm confused

The Power Blab stickers are included on the sheets of PL stickers. It is just one sticker that is to be used in the Bible Blast station on the last day. The daily challenge stickers to make the challenge bracelets are also included on the sticker sheets.

Thanks for sharing this. Any idea about what to use as a substitution since the PL stickers aren't listed on the Group website anymore?

Thanks!

Linda,

We just finished and we didn't use the stickers at all.  We use regular Scotch tape for the Daily Challenge strips and didn't need the rest for anything.  (We did not buy the books)  We used regular name tag sized labels at the Bible Blast station, and it was fine (and lots cheaper!)

Godspeed.

The cinema science experiments were AWESOME!  The kids loved the chemical reactions and I am really glad we didn't cut them out. (It was a hassle to get it all together, but it was well worth it!)

Yes, the Cinema Science kit is what you use for the ELEMENTARY age kids at the station where they watch the Chadder movie this year.  Group is calling that station "Cinema Science" this year.

The preschool station is called "Chadder's Theater."  You do NOT need a Cinema Science kit for that.  They need simple things like flashlights, root beer and paper cups.

Godspeed.

Dear Lina, this will be quick and prob. poorly spelled.  It's Sat. pm tomarrow VBS starts.  I'm in charge of crafts and decore.  We go until the 27th at which time the large beaker decore could be sold "cheap" and sent somewhere and I got science stickers from Oriental ( don't have daily challenge etc.  but pictures on them,a nd may even have decore and crfts left to sell as we expect a lighter than usual turn out, butnever know until the doors open as we take everyone even if not pre reg.  you can contact me at bmotherr@aol.com after the say 28th and if there is time I can help with what's left, if there is time to mail ship something before your start!  good luck  Crafty Bonnie
