| | I need help! At the last minute, we have decided to add a quick and easy science experiment to the opening program and I don't have a clue as to what to do. I need ideas that will entertain and interest the kids yet be easy and quick enough to have during the opening program to get the kids in the right spirit. |

He has two experiments a day and, usually, one of them requires nothing but household goods like cornstarch or vinegar. I am buying the air blaster, though!
Also, believe it or not, a great source for science experiments that you can do with household goods is YouTube . The nice thing about YouTube is you can actually see the experiments being done. There is one on there about water changing color that I think we are going to do. What you are really looking for is kitchen chemistry (chemistry experiments have the most wow factor!) and if you Google "kitchen chemistry experiments", you'll come up with tons of ideas. | | We used Steve Spangler website also. We ordered the Instant Snow, and the Instant worms from him, the kids loved them both, but the Instant Snow was a big success. We also did the elephant toothpaste, that one was really cool, we had a little harder time finding the proper proxide, well we actually just diluted 12% proxide that we got at the Health food store. Our local pharmacist was able to help me locate it. We also did the Vanishing peanuts, it says use finger nail polish remover, but the polish remover we bought wasn't strong enough, so we just bought Acetone from the paint section in Wal-Mart, and that worked perfectly, We took a big trash bag of peanuts and melted them into a small bowl. |
