We had over 160 kids at our community VBS.  Of those kids, 41 did not list a church home.  Does anyone have a followup letter they send?  I'd love to look at one.  I'm coming up brain dead on what to say exactly!

Roger is even preaching through the Bible stories for the next five weeks, so the kids will get to hear familiar songs and learn more about the stories and do some of the things we didn't do at VBS.  I REALLY want to follow up with these families! (close to 30 families)

We are doing a block party on Aug 1 for young families, so they'll be getting a postcard about that.

They'll likely also get a person visit from our church.

But I want to get a letter out yesterday, if you know what I mean.

Anything else you do for followup?

Hi,

Here's two possibilities that I used as follow up letters -- one sent to older kids and one sent to parents/families of younger kids.  Hope you find it helpful.  We haven't scheduled an official follow-up event but we are having a outside musical event at our church July 20.  I sent out posters to all the families of our community kids and hope to see at least a few.  We have included these families on our church newsletter list and will contact them in August about an all church picnic.  I hope our SS teachers will make personal phone calls to these families before our new SS class begin after Labor Day.

Meg

Hi ____ (Child's name)

It was great to see you at Power Lab VBS!  I hope you felt the power of God's love during our week of fun and that you are continuing to experience God's power as you do 'daily challenges' with your family and friends.

You'd be welcome to join us each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. for cl where you can actively learn more about God's love and power.  During the summer all kids in grades K-8th meet together in the fellowship hall.  (High school youth meet separately down the hall.)  We'll begin by singing some of the songs that you learned during Power Lab.  A different person will lead each week and we guarantee you won't be bored!

Call ______if you need a ride.  We'll be sure someone stops to pick you up!

Remember the power verses - they will help you live for Jesus each day:

"Always be thankful." Colossians 3:15

"When God's people are in need, be ready
to help them." Romans 12:13

"I will not be afraid, for you are close
beside me." Psalm 23:4

"Since I live, you also will live." John 14:19

"Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone." Mark 16:15

      Signed _______ VBS Coordinator

Sent to families of children who attended VBS:

It was a pleasure to have ____ at Power Lab VBS!  I hope he/she felt the power of God's love during our week of fun.

You'd all be welcome to join us on any Sunday at 9:30 a.m. when we have cl for children and youth to actively learn more about God's love and power, and two choices of adult cl where we discuss how the Bible applies to our daily lives.

Call _____if you need a ride.  We'll be sure someone stops to pick you up.
