| A church member donated a box of medical tools for our VBS. One of the boxes contained several packages of syringes (no needles of course.. they were similar to the large syringes that the pharmacies give out w/ infant liquid prescriptions). We took several of the syringes and filled them w/ ice water before the kids arrived to Bible Blast and we hid them on a table out of view. When we ‘corralled’ the ‘lepers’ w/ the caution tape, my assistant put on rubber gloves and grabbed the syringes in his hand. I then asked the kids if they thought that our Doctor from Jerusalem could ‘heal’ the lepers and the kids screamed out for him to ‘heal’ them. He squirted the kids w/the cold water syringes and they LOVED it. Of course he didn’t squirt the stickers.... we didn’t want to take a chance that they may fall off! When the ‘medicine’ failed, I told the kids that no earthly medicine could heal them and then we slipped right into the story re: Jesus healing the lepers. It was awesome and a super addition to our day for each crew! Also... rather than use only red dots on the kids we bought the neon multi-colored pack from walmart to add some variety. We also put some on several leaders and the kids thought that was a hoot~ to have their leaders in the caution tape along w/ them was very exciting :o) |
