| StAgnes, you can listen to music clips here: http://www.groupvbs.com/rome/page.aspx?navroot=learn&pageid=16 I'd have to say this is may be the best music Holyland has ever had! And Jake, you do realize that Crocodile Dock IS the 2009 Easy VBS and if you do it this fall, you won't have a VBS next year. I guess I'm also kind of baffled.

We'll be doing Paul in Rome. After two successful Group Holy Land Adventures (I've only been doing this for two years.) and Pope Benedict's declaration on the Year of St. Paul, I just couldn't choose any other VBS. In a different post (of people's ideas of what they wanted from Group's next VBS) I suggested that Group would really benefit from reaching out to the Catholic market with the Paul in Rome VBS this year. They usually offer a "Catholic version" of the "Easy VBS" each year but not the Holy Land one. I'd rather have them do it for Rome this year than tack on a saint for each day of Croc Dock. Erin/St. Agnes, if they don't do a "Catholic version" of Paul in Rome this year, I'll share what I'm doing to Catholicize it. Their kit is pretty generic anyway, okay for just about all flavors of Christianity. The only change I absolutely had to make last year for it to jive with Catholic teaching (and the Bible) was to take one little word out of the "A Puzzling Passover" drama. Instead of "Then all that talk about the bread being like His body..." our drama team member said "Then all that talk about the bread being His body..." I also changed the Bible point quotes to be actual verses from the Bible instead of the paraphrased Cliff Notes versions Group does... but I think any Bible believing Christian would have been fine with that change.

| Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Religion Publishers will be offering Catholic edits for the Rome Holyland program. The Starter Kit would need to be purchased from them and they will then send a special web link where a parish can download a variety of suggestions how to use the program in a Catholic parish.

I'll be using Crocodile Dock at my church. Although I love, love, love the Rome & the Underground Church Theme! I feel like those Marketplace type VBS programs require a lot more volunteers and church participation, and unfortunately I can't ever get more than the absolute necessity to commit to helping with VBS each year and this is my 4th year doing this!

I didn't see how we would ever get enough volunteers, either, and if I had known before we started how many we really would need, I probably would have given up, too. But God is Good--all the time! And I believe that the Holyland VBS's are such a blessing partly BECAUSE of the need for a lot of church involvement. I also think there are so many "small" jobs for people to do that are not so hard to commit to, that maybe it is easier to recruit people in some cases. (Thank you to Group for making it so "easy" to follow each manual & have everything laid out so clearly & tested.) We have done 3 Holyland VBS's so far, and every year more people come back & want to be involved because it was such a blessing the previous year. It is always a struggle to get enough staff because we keep trying to be ready for more kids, but they show up in "God's time", which is seldom early but never late! If you love the Holyland themes, and believe God is leading, and are enthusiastic, I believe you can "sell" the idea to your church.

Thank you so much for the encouragement, Dawn! I suppose I don't have to make a decision quite yet anyways, so I'll keep praying on it!
