Full-time Minister with Students Job Posting

Looking for an opportunity to share your theological knowledge and grow Christian leaders and citizens of tomorrow?  Have an impact on today’s teenagers by meeting them where they are and leading them on a Deeper Discipleship journey through Christian education and programming.  First United Methodist Church of Plano is searching for a Minister with Students to reach the youth in our community and grow the Student Ministry.  We are intentionally and boldly moving into the future so we can model what 21st century Christianity can be like in traditional mainline congregations.

First United Methodist Church of Plano is a 3,800-member congregation in our sixth year on a 28-acre campus in Plano, Texas and our 160th year in ministry to the region. As our church grows, the Student Ministry continues to reach into the community and welcome middle school and high school students to discover and grow deeper in their faith. 

The Minister with Students’ qualifications include:

• Experience building relationships with students and building trust while understanding today’s teenager’s emotional and spiritual development. 
• Experience communicating with students as well as parents.
• Outside-of-the-box thinker with creative Deeper Discipleship programming, education, and mission projects. 
• Effective volunteer management.
• Experience mentoring and encouraging strong student leadership.
• Proven track record in recruiting students.
• Theological understanding of the United Methodist Church.  

The Minister with Students will lead the development, implementation and administration of the Student Ministry in a manner that is based on and consistent with the mission, vision, and strategy of First United Methodist Church Plano. The Youth Ministry will be integrated in an overall life-long Christian education and discipleship growth process.  The Student Ministry activities include Sunday school, mission trips, mid-week activities and Bible study, summer activities, and various mission projects. 
Candidates must possess the following skills, knowledge, and abilities:

• Three or more years as a Minister with Youth, or related experience
• Dedication to Youth and their spiritual journey
• Computer literate
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• A leader and motivator with the ability to delegate as needed
• Ability to manage, empower, and encourage student leadership and adult volunteers.
• Commitment to the mission, vision and strategy of First United Methodist Church of Plano
• Desire to reach out into the community to grow the Student Ministry.
