May I request prayers for a situation that has nothing to do with VBS? My husband found out today that he will be "downsized" in 3 weeks. He is an artist, a Christian illustrator. There are not many jobs available for that sort of thing, and we have felt so blessed that he is able to use his talents to further God's work. And we have been so blessed that I could stay home with our two little girls (age 2 & 3 1/2), only working 1 or 2 shifts a week as a nurse when Daddy can be home with them. I know God is in control, but right now it feels like the only way we will survive is for me to work more. I know they will be well taken care of with my husband home, but I really hate leaving them even 1 day a week, and having to work 3 or 4 or 5 shifts a week sounds horrible. Both my girls can be very clingy, and especially my little one has such a hard time when I leave her even with Daddy (who, by the way, is wonderful with them).
Thanks for your prayers & encouragement. It is a blessing to have a community of people who love to do God's work. Just knowing I can ask for your prayers helps.
Dawn

I will be praying for you, Dawn! God always has a plan and He will show you the way. As a nurse, too, I am always grateful that I can pick up some extra work to help out when I need to....like you, I always wanted to be home w/ my kids, though! Lifting you ALL up to the Lord! Kimberly

Thank you to everyone who prayed for my family. My husband was offered a job last night. It pays better than the one he is losing, and will definitely use his talents for God's work, which is what he most wants to do. And now I won't need to leave my little girls to work extra shifts! We are so relieved and thankful.
But my heart is also breaking a bit. We will have to move, probably in the spring or at the beginning of summer. They want my husband to work from home for 3 months as a trial period, which is great. If this doesn't work out, we won't have sold our house & moved for nothing. But we do need to plan to move, and that means leaving the church family we love, and someone else will have to lead VBS this summer. After 3 summers of doing Holyland VBS, I hate the thought of leaving! I will probably keep coming on this forum just because I love VBS, and hopefully will find another Rome VBS where I can volunteer to help after we move!

It is so hard to be excited about Rome but know that I cannot lead it this year! We have a wonderful new director. Jenny has helped me so much for the 3 years we have done the Holyland VBS's, and has been such a support and encouragement. I know she will do a great job. She has already started working on plans, and I know she is "lurking" on this forum, although I don't see her posting anything yet. I have promised to be as involved as I can be in the planning, in order to make her job as easy as possible...and to just keep myself connected to the ministry I love. Thank you Jenny for being so enthusiastic and willing to jump in!
We are both looking forward to and dreading our possible move in the spring. God willing, my husband will be in this job for much longer than the 3 month probation, and we will move to the Nampa, ID area. Does anyone know of a church doing Rome in Nampa or vicinity? I really would like to at least take my kids to a Rome VBS, and if possible volunteer to help in some way.
Blessings to all of you who are planning!

Dawn,
Thank you for the words of encouragement. I pray every day that I will be able to fill your shoes. I hope that you find the VBS that you can get involved with, because to lose you as a part of any VBS program would be a huge loss to everyone that puts on this program.
I have been going through all the manuals and making notes. It is going to be a different experience, especially the Family Time and the lack of Jewish customs. There are also only 10 family groups, instead of 12 tribes, so it will be interesting to see how we fit everyone into groups. We have been blessed with a fairly large program, and I don't want to have to turn away anyone that could be blessed by this wonderful experience.
I hope that everyone continues to pray for Dawn and her family, and also for the church she is leaving behind, that we may be able to continue the wonderful outreach that she has begun.
God Bless,
Jenny

BUT I do live just outside Nampa city limits! We drive 15 miles to church in a wonderful town called Melba. Ask any questions you might have about Nampa! Pam
