I'm a new youth minister in a young, "mobile" church plant trying to plan events & programs for 2009. I'm debating about how to use our resources to produce the greatest impact for making disciples. I would love to know what's worked best for you. If I'm missing something from the poll feel free to add your own thoughts! Thanks.
Blessings.

| To start out, you would definitely need a solid Leadership Staff that works with you and backs you up with all your programs and events. Then you would focus on the programs and events that you would have available for your students. Getting Jesus into the lives of teens is the biggest priority. Finally, add the bells and whistles with decorations to your Youth Room and anything else that you and your teens can come up with. God Bless, Josh

This really needs a multiple answer option. I think that the most needs to be invested in weekly activities, including possibly pizza and/or other snacks, with a focus on training and spending time with leaders and other youth. Although facilities and events definitely need a heavy focus as well.

Every thing rises and falls on leadership. I would sink my budget into training youth ministers/volunteers. If they are good at building relationships and discipling students then the youth group will grow both numerically and spiritually.
I've met now for 7 years without our "own" facility. I don't think facility even figures in. I'm considering meeting at Taco Bell some during the winter months while tourism is slow here. I'm sure they would appreciate the business.
But if I had money to burn . . .giant velcro wall

| I actually am with Andy on this one. I think facilities, and programs, and food are all keys to overall package in ministry. The thing to get it started successfully is trainging. Why spend the money on all the facilities and programs if the people you put there are properly trained for the position they hold. You have destruction written all over when you don't prepare the foundation first. Then add the walls; Food, Programs, Facilities, Food, Giant Velcro Wall, and Food. Also, Doug F taught me in his book the easy way off getting out the facilities for your meetings like Taco Bell meetings, but taco sauce does not come out of the King James very good. Prepare the heart then the program. Your program is empty without His help! Pastor Mark
