Our family participated in JM years back & it was fantastic for sooo many reasons!
We are looking at putting a proposal together to do it ourselves.
What we realistically need is a purchase list & budget in order to do some cost effective planning.
The one we attended had some creative things added, not all was from "kits ", and we would probably go that route if it was cost effective.
What I am also looking for is a cost per child/person participating.
Any help.lists, resources etc would be greatly appreciated. we have purchased nothing as we need to see if it is a go first.
thanks all in advance

| Joann, I haven't done a Holy Land Adventure VBS but I would recommend getting a hold of a Jerusalem Marketplace kit with all of the materials first and then look through the Jerusalem Marketplace catalog and kit to decide what you would like to incorporate into your Holy Land Adventure. You don't have to do all that Group has in the Starter Kit if you're a small church or don't have the budget to do all of it. I'm sure others can let you know more about the budget and specific things like that. I hope you have a great Jerusalem Marketplace! God Bless, Josh

I would say it costs us about $35-40 per participant. We have a lot of church people who donate or loan supplies and props, so that helps a lot. We have had anywhere from 80-106 participants for the past 3 years. Thankfully Group will take back unopened packages of supplies, so I just count on returning what we don't use, and order enough for 120 each year. Of course, we let parents or staff do crafts if they would like to. I keep thinking it will get less expensive each year as we have more props & costumes gathered, but there is always something else that comes up, like canopies that get ruined because of high wind, or costumes that disappear, or we decide to use port-a-potties for our outdoor marketplace rather than going back into the church bathroom...
It is all so worth the cost when you think of the many families who experience God's love, and the many church members who join the team & work together for God & develop stronger friendships.
