What does your church do to make Christmas Eve Services more family friendly?

We have an 11 PM service and we encourage folks to bring their kids in their pajamas!

At a previous church they invited all the kids to go to the narthex right after the prayer of the day and before the readings to find a costume; and during the reading of the Gospel Lesson, the kids came in @ the appropriate time for the costume (shepherds, angels, holy family, animals, etc) and they did a tableau up front. This way, all kids are able to participate and no one needs to memorize lines -- also was a great way for me to include the confirmation age kids who were willing to dress up, but didn't want to sing or speak.

We have overflow seating in the Hall but no one wants to sit in there on folding chairs looking at a simulcast screen.  Soooo this year we are going to make the Hall THE place to be for families.  We will have families sit together at round tables instead of rows of chairs. There will be hot chocolate and cookies (to decorate?) and we'll do crafts and coloring pages and make reindeer food....

I'm trying to figure out how to have the family make a photo frame together and we'll take their photo and print it out before service ends so they can take it home and hang it on their tree.

I'm lookiing for a family devotional to pass out for the family to work on AFTER Christmas since the kids are home for vacation and a lot of the parents are too.  Anybody know where I can get one specifically for after Christmas?

But all this has to not be disruptive to the sermon and service going on on the screen.  I'll let you know if it works.  I'm hoping next year people will be fighting over seats in the Hall leaving the sanctuary room for new visitors.  Any suggestions?
