The Youth Director(s) is responsible to work with the John Knox Youth Ministry committees and oversee and lead the John Knox Youth Programs, consisting of over 50 Jr. High and Sr. High Youth as well as our College Age and Young Adults programs. This position is envisioned to be either Full Time: Jr. High Youth, Sr. High Youth, College Age, and Young Adults -or- Part Time #1: Jr. High Youth and Sr. High Youth Part Time #2: College Age and Young Adults Job Responsibilities: • Regular communications (verbal and computer) with the youth, parents, volunteers, church staff, and others.• Organizing, planning, facilitating and participating in youth activities with a creative approach. This includes fun activities, retreats, mission trips, Bible studies, and worship in the life of JK.• Develop 1:1 relationships with all youth and their families.• Organizing and choosing Christian Education materials and learning approaches for youth. This responsibility includes Sunday School, Confirmation, and other youth activities.• Managing fundraising activities and budget for youth programs.The successful candidate would need to have the following experience and qualifications: • Experience in Youth Ministry – connects with and relates well with youth and has worked in a large church youth ministry program that can take John Knox’s program to the next level.• Organizational Skills -- Organized and also able to work with others, delegating tasks appropriately.• Leadership Skills – has demonstrated leadership capabilities for leading a large group of youth and keeping them involved and excited.• Exceptional Communication Skills – Verbal as well as Computer Skills to communicate with the youth, parents, staff, greater church, and other outside agencies.• Christian Education – some previous Christian Education experience and background that is compatible with the Presbyterian Church (USA).• Experience with, or openness to, non-traditional worship styles.• Small Group Ministries – appreciates this emphasis in the life of our congregation.The successful candidate would need to possess the following qualities: • Personal Faith - Ability to lead the youth in their Spiritual growth and development.• Christian Background - Personally experienced a loving Christian church and who knows the importance of a positive church relationship.• Extraverted People Person – A high energy person that is selfmotivated and likes people and youth.• Passion and Care of all Youth – A person that will care for all the youth and reach out to those who are on the fringe of the program, as well as those who are active.• Maturity – A person that has life experiences and can relate to today’s youth environments.For further information or to submit your resume, please contact Mandy Gentry in the church office at 864-244-0453 or e-mail her at mgentry@johnknoxpres.org .
