We just completed our first Night in Bethlehem on the 7th and it was a HUGE success.  We are still getting compliments!

We were meeting today to discuss whether or not to do it again next year (of course we are!) and were talking up ways to expand on it.

First of all - PLEASE tell me that you are doing it for 2009!!!  Secondly, some of the ideas that came up were expanding the food section from just breads and candy to include other Bible time food (lamb, veggies etc.) - have a whole "Bethlehem Cafe"!  As well as adding some activities that were a little easier for some of our younger members to do (the weaving and the 3 year olds didn't go well! )

I would love to hear from you as soon as you have ANY information about next year - we have a group of people that already wants to start planning!!

I'm SO glad you had a great Night in Bethlehem! We haven't yet decided if there will be a new program for 2009, but input like yours certainly helps!

We also had a wonderful night in Bethlehem! We have done it the last two years and my church is hoping that we can host a similar night for many years to come. Last year we had 24 children attend and this year we had 40! I am very happy that all of the crafts were different this year. One change I would like to see would be different Bible Memory Makers each year. Since we have the same families coming every year, we felt it was important to give them different Bible Memoy Buddies; we ended up ordering Nativity Bendables from Oriental Trading. We would prefer to have something from Group because we like the sayings that are right on them, but we really wanted to give families something different. We also missed the Jewish Family Home this  year. The rest of the set-up is great. One thing we do differently is that I am the sole director of NIB rather than all of the different directors suggested in the book. It is easier to have one person getting all of the volunteers together than delegate all of those jobs. Because of that, it has been a little difficult to follow the manual and pass out the information to each of the shop keepers because I had to copy pages from several sections of the book. But we LOVE the program and I got WONDERFUL feedback from those at my church. Please do Night in Bethlehem again!!!!!

Ditto that. We also doubled our attendance this year. Like you, I found it easier to be the only director, but this being our 4th HA event sure made it easier. If group doesnt make a kit, we will just go from what we have. Our families and our council have both requested this to be a "permanent" part of our church year

In talking about a food booth, we actually had an inn this year--the one with the stable out back. You could go in and have a bible-times dinner, and the inn keeper had lots of interesting comments about the hubbub caused by that family from Bethlehem. Since we always like to include dinner and a place to sit and chat, it worked out really well.

Group, keep em coming! Our church is so not interested in going back to the old vbs formats..

We are doing A Night in Bethlehem for 2009.  You can check out the website and order your starter kit at www.group.com/bethlehem.

I just purchased the Starter Kit last night. I can't wait to go through everything and start planning. I will present it to the church next month. Any ideas or tips?

I tried to download the sample, but can't find it on Group's website. Could someone PM me a link?

How much can I expect for this program to cost us? A range or ball park figure would be most helpful. Thanks.
