| I have been tasked with programming a summer camp with the theme "Live It Out" with little other instructions or parameters. The concept is moving kids from a perspective that camp is all about "what do I get out of camp?" to "what do I do with what I've experienced at camp?" Before you reply, let me say that I think you should have a scriptural focus/principle and build from there when developing a theme, but that choice was not mine. That being said, does anyone have suggestions for a theme passage/reference. We want it to be a positive tone. By this I mean we want to avoid passages that have negating verbage such as "do not" "be not" etc. For instance, one that comes to mind is Ps 119:11 "I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you." That is a powerful verse, but if used as the theme/main idea it can be perceived that the goal of the Christian life is not to sin. I'm not opening a theological debate, but from my view that is not the "win." Any suggestions would be welcome!

Hopstudents,
Camps can always be extremely fun, exhausting and challenging all at the same time! I know you'll do well and you will honor Him with your efforts.
What are your initial thoughts on the theme or topic choices. I saw you have a certain perspective of how you want it to be worded which is a good idea. If you can narrow it down a little I would love to help you with some verses!!!

| What about James 1:22-25 (more than one verse, I know!) 22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does. Group has a study on James that might be a great basis for your camp! http://store.grouppublishing.com/OA_HTML/ibeCCtpItmDspRte.jsp?a=b&item=67974§ion=18242 It's for adults, but I think it could easily be adapted a little for youth. We did it in our SS class and it was really good. It includes lots of great hands on activities and suggestions for service projects, etc.

| What about this scripture? Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

| What about... "Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people." - Colossians 3:23 "In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' " - Acts 20:35 I love the theme but it's hard to find a verse that goes with it. Good luck on finding one. God Bless, Josh

Philippians 4:9 & James 1:22 (The Message)
Put into practice what you learned, what you heard and saw and realized because those who hear and don't act are like those who glance in the mirror, walk away, and two minutes later have no idea who they are, what they look like. So don't just listen, act on what you hear. Do that, and God, will be with you.

| One verse that I always love is I Corinthians 10:31 "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

camp is way over at this point and only a memory. since i am new to the forum i will comment anyway.
Phil 1:21 - "to live is for Christ and to die is to gain"
that reeks of your theme in my opinion.
