| I haven't decidedfor sure what to do for Day 5, but as far as "operation kid to kid", we have not participated in the Group's theme in several years, but instead, we collect a small offering each night and use this cash to buy school supplies for children in our community that are in our food bank program. We usually do our VBS later in the summer and the kids are thinking about returning to school. "This year we are doing it early, but will still do the our version of KID to KID.

ReunionKFC (4/7/2009) We have a limited budget also and so instead of doing the turtle project...which I think is SOOOO cute...we are gonna have the kids do a can food drive. The food pantries get really low during the summer because the kiddo's are at home so I thought...there is a specific need in our community that our kids and their families can help fill. And then we MIGHT get some kids together and have them actually take it down to the Pantry as a missions project the week after CD. That's just our idea!!So far, I think that is our plan also. Our food pantrys have really been hit hard lately. Unfortunately, it misses the opportunity to spread the word of God. I may have to come up with something else to go with it for that. Not sure what yet. Any ideas?

| We are also making picture frames the last day. Kids love these. I always take a "group" picture in front of our prop and then a single picture of each child and develop it in the wallet size. Both will fit on the frame & decorated with the foamies they are really cute. I received the large foam Stamps from OT today and they are adorable. They have 2 stamps that can be used for the heading..One says Smile with a crocodile! and the other says Prayers from the Pond. They are large but depending on the size of your picture(s) and the way you turn the frame, they could work nicely. You could use a date stamp in the corner. For our "mission" craft this year, I am thinking of having each group decorate a couple of extra lantern take out boxes (without the holes) and fill them with hard candies, (in a baggie) and some travel lotions-shower caps, mouth washes, q-tips and cotton balls in sealed packets, etc, that my husband has accumulated from his business travel. We will attach a Prayer From the Pond wallet card (OT) and then on one Wed night after VBS, let the older kids take them to our nearby Senior Citizen's Complex and take them door to door. We will have some with diabetic candy for those who can't eat regular candy. My parents are elderly and they seem to always have hard candy in their pockets or near the couch. During Thanksgiving and Christmas we deliver hot dinners to this cul-de-sac and they are always anxiously waiting in the doors for us and some come out and chat while we are going door to door. They will love the attention. Last year we did the soccer balls and sent them to a mission in Mexico with friends I have gone with before. They are not able to go this year due to the violence.

| Our church offers back to school backpacks with supplies and free haircuts in mid-August. It has been a huge success. We decided to have the kids bring in school supplies and made up a "crocodile" shoe box to put the stuff in -- it will connect it for our kids and then we can also put information on the back of the box about our fall festival. We have families within our own church who have needed supplies and know others who need them. Since we have done it in the past, we have pictures, cards, etc. that we can use in the craft time. http://kidscrafts.wetpaint.com/page/Alligator+Valentine+Box Lisa Bain, Co-Director Clarkston Free Methodist Church Clarkston, Michigan

| We take a "crew photo" of each crew and each child uses that in their frame. It was a lot easier to match the kids up, because we just gave the copies to the crew leader in the photo. it was also a nice way of seeing your friends after the week was up. Note: the foam beads from oriental trading co are actually cuter and cheaper than their foam stickers. if you look closely, the stickers are mostly lilly pad flowers, but the beads are mostly animals (according to their photos). we will use glue dots to hold the flat beads. We are using construction paper instead of foam frames this year... much cheaper, but still cute with the beads.
