We intentionally built Grapple so that all messaging would be public.

Grapple does not allow private messaging back and forth between teacher and student, it only permits students to directly contact the teacher. This is designed to protect students as well as to encourage face-to-face conversations between a teacher and student. To respond to a student, please contact him or her directly by phone or through personal contact.
