Last year for PL we did a pie auction....I got busy the weeks leading up to it and painted test tubes and made some fun decor for the tables...was very festive....WOW...we raised $2600....funded our vbs, children's min department and fall festival...and I still have money left in that account!  This year we are doing the same thing!!!!!  I can't wait...starting to get ready!!!!

COuld you share more info - who made the pies and how many did you have?  Did you have a live or silent auction?

Oh sorry...guess I could have shared that!!!  Oops!!!  It was a live auction and we had a sign up sheet for our members to make something...it actually didn't have to be a pie....one of our youth members made a cake...his own recipe and he decorated it all by himself...it was our highest price getter and I don't think his parents ended up with it!    During our Women's ministry meeting is where we started the sign up sheet.  We had probably at least 40 deserts!!!  It was amazing!!!  We also had it decorated with sciencey stuff.  We had somebody bless us with a catered sloppy joe dinner so everybody got fed in more than one way.  It was basically right after church and everybody hung out, ate and bought.  Was awesome to see our church rally around some of the youngest members!!!  Praying for your fundraising...This year I have also set up the Fundraising site through group...our site isn't "live" YET but will be and hoping to get items donated that way!!!  This year we are doing the auction again and having food again as well...not sure what we are gonna do for the food but we shall figure it out!!  Good luck!

Blessings

I saw it suggested if you are having a VBS meal, either for auction time or volunteer meetings, consider doing some awesome Cajun Shrimp Gumbo... it can't be beat!

Maybe you could say that they are gator eggs in swamp sauce or miniture mud pies.

A true cajun will eat anthing that doesn't eat them first!  We do have many Italian influences in our cooking so meatballs and sauce is always a welcomed treat!

This sounded like such a great idea that our church has decided to give it a try, not just to raise money for VBS but for all our youth programs. We would like to try it on Father's Day with the idea being something like Come join us to Praise and Raise our Fathers,    Praise our heavenly father and treat your father while raising money for our youth. Not sure how to word everything so any thoughts would be appreciated, I'm sure there won't be any problems in getting the baked items donated or finding buyers, just want to make it  a fun experience! Thanks and Blessings
