| | We use a fellowship hall which is quite large for our kids service. It's one big room the size of small school gym...sound isnt the greatest but we carpeted it and put a stage in with lighting and speakers. We have anywhere from 15-40 1st through 5th graders attend depending upon the time of year with two teams of about 10-12 per Volunteers on a team that rotate. We set up round tables in the room for small group time and have a bunch of chairs set up and open space for Large group time.....we act out dramas on stage or in the open areas of the room as well as do the bible story as the kids are all seated up front together- we begin with the kids sitting up front as one large group...with the jumpstarts, then move to do the 4 songs then do a section we call visitors/birthdays/communion and offering time, then we move to the bible story then do the video or one or two large group activities....we use the final 20 minutes for a small group time to go over the take home sheets, memory verse and bible story summary....we didnt have the money to buy the special memory makers unfortunately so we skipped that. Our service for the kids runs about 1 hour and 10 minutes in total with each thing taking about 10 mintues each. We let some kids go up on stage to do the motions to the songs and to sing through one or two microphones during the beginning songs. We try to have some decorations to match the topic but that's been tough for us....I am able to get people to dress up for the skits and we created an area with stuff for those. Our church hopes to be able to put more money into decorations later this year. Hope all this is helpful to anyone interested in how we do the Living Inside Out curriculum. Our Church size is about 400 average attendees per Sunday. We struggle a bit with the upper elementary kids (4th and 5th graders)...to keep them interested during the small group time but that has been the only negative. I made sure we purchased the posters and have them all on the walls to help make things look better and not so bland. Thanks. Dave B. |

| | I can't say enough about LIO!! I serve a church with roughly 2000 primarily retired members. Our children and youth ministries have gone through their ups and downs (who's haven't?) and we are currently on an upswing. I have never had trouble getting kids to VBS, averaging about 300 each June. Sundays, however, have been a very different story. Sunday morning now averages about 65 kids in grades K-6, versus about 40 the last few years and the only thing different is LIO. In a nutshell, the kids love it, the teachers love it, and they all GET IT! I have gone through all 3 units published so far and will save the summer unit for the fall because I don't want the kids to miss out on their fun over the summer. If there isn't another unit available by the end of the year, I will piece something together. My Group rep is sending me material from Kids Own Worship, and I already have Hands-On Bible Blitz and I am going to make it work. We have an incredibly gifted music staff who can provide me with music and video until LIO comes back. The key for me is the large/small group, the multi-media, and that the kids keep on moving. I have looked and looked online and haven't found anything from any other publisher that even comes close. My understanding is that the question about LIO's return isn't if, but when. |

| | See what I mean! LIO turns things around because it is like a mini-VBS every month! I am really considering getting the basic components of several of the VBS programs out there other than group to turn them into LIO-type modules to tide us over until more is available. (I say other than Group because we are using Avalanche Ranch for the real VBS). Anyway, please don't cancel it!!! |

| bettinaz (3/8/2007) My understanding is that the question about LIO's return isn't if, but when.I think there are several of us that hope this is the case of when not if but I haven't really sensed that from some of the posts.

| I am disappointed also that Group is not producing Living Inside Out anymore. I have also changed my whole program on Sunday mornings - "breaking" the traditional mode. I have had negative feedback but A LOT of great feedback about the new form. I know that it is hard to not have the LIO curriculum anymore, but THANK YOU GROUP for providing it and giving me an opportunity to BREAK THE MOLD of traditional Sunday School/Kids Church!! Even though I have to change, this doesn't mean that I have to change back to the same old model. There are lots of great things that I can continue with whether it be with Group or some other company. But, had it not been for LIO a lot of us might not have ever changed from the same old BORING models that have been in place for so long. Again, I am sad to not have LIO anymore but THANK YOU GROUP for all you do to push Children's Ministry into this century!!!

| My vote is for you to continue to produce more LIO modules. We plan on using the curriculum for the whole year (approximately 46 out of 52 weeks) and we too have changed our entire children's church structure to work with the curriculum. We finally have kids that are truly looking forward to learning the lessons that LIO are teaching them and I would hate to see that come to an end. I would also ask whether this is a permanent cessation or just a temporary one. Don't do it! We love LIO!!!

| | Hi all! Sorry for the delay in getting back with you -- I've been on spring break with my family. Thanks, Dave, for your 'getting started' ideas. And to reply about schedules: while we don't have any dates in mind for starting production up again (we have more themes and Bible lessons selected), it is our intent to begin again. I know (because of the time it takes to create our media) that we won't have anything for you this year. Beyond that, we don't have any better answers for you at this time. I'll add to this post whenever we do. In the mean time, thanks all for your support of this program. We'll continue doing our part to let others know about the 12 modules we have, and get more ministries involved with Group's Living Inside Out. Again, please let me know how else I can help in the meantime. Blessings!

| | I cannot begin to express how disappointed I am that Group has decided to discontinue production of Living Inside Out. We have basically revamped our entire Children's Sunday School in order to use the LIO curriculum - knocking out walls, moving adult classes, installing sound and video equipment - not to mention abandoning LifeWay (Southern Baptist) Sunday School curriculum for the first time ever (not an easy move to make). We had searched everywhere for a large group/small group, video-driven, easy-to-use Children's format, and Living Inside Out was exactly what we were looking for. And now you tell us you're giving up after less than a year? I'm back to the drawing board! Seriously, we use LIO every week, so I've got to have an entire new curriculum in place by September, and it's going to be difficult to find anything nearly this good. Our kids have gotten spoiled, and so have our workers! Please ask those at the decision-making level to reconsider pulling the plug so quickly on such a fine product. Give it more time! |
