I agree Mark!

IF LIO is going to be continued at all, we need to know ASAP!!!  I have started looking at other curriculum too but would like to stay with LIO if at all possible.  I use it for our Wednesday night program (which doesn't meet in the summer--we do different stuff) so I do have a few modules that can get me through part of fall/winter.

HEY GROUP--any ideas on dates???

Sorry -- there is still no date on production beginning again. We are working on it and meeting again tomorrow. I still have no date, though, and believe it could still be 4 to 6 weeks before we may have a better idea of when production can start again. As I have mentioned before, based on how long it takes to create a Living Inside Out module, don't count on having any new modules for use this year. I don't know about January yet. I realize that means you need to be looking at other curriculum, but that's why we felt it important to get this word out, so that you'd have time to do that. I've tried to provide some possibilities, but I know that's what they are--possibilities--and won't meet everyone's needs.

For those of you looking at KidsOwn Worship and trying to extend it to a longer period of time, I wanted to make sure you're aware of the free "Teacher Tips" you can find at www.KidsOwnWorship.com. These go along with the lesson, as do any of the free Teacher Tips at www.FaithWeaver.com (there the tips are by age level). And as someone mentioned, FaithWeaver Friends (and FaithWeaver) also reinforces the same Bible story (you'll notice we include the Friends Projects-With-a-Purpose book in the KidsOwn Worship Kit in fall, winter, and spring to give you an added craft/service project idea each week), too and would give you addition ideas (like games for each week) if you're not already using the FaithWeaver Friends program.

Again, I hope to have an update by the end of May on our production schedule. This update would not be new resources for fall use (since those typically are available in May). If anything changes to that, I'll let you know.

Thanks for replying Deb.

I gave out a survey to my leaders and they are coming back in.  I asked what they love best about LIO (and don't want to lose) and what one improvement they would like to see for our next curriculum.  I think most are in denial that LIO won't be back for fall.  They really truly have been so complimentary to it.

Thanks, Cindy. We're meeting again tomorrow on more thoughts and ideas, and all the feedback from this forum will be part of our ideas/discussion on how to move forward!

I spent a long time on the phone yesterday with our awesome Group rep, Steve and I think we've reached a compromise.  We currently use Kids' Own Worship for our children's church . . . but because it only meets for 20 minutes and doesn't meet every week, a quarter's worth lasts us a long time.  We're presently still using the winter quarter.  We're going to go ahead and get the spring and summer quarters of KOW to use for children's church for the indefinite future.

Starting this fall, we're going to use KOW for SS.  We're going to add to that the Opening Celebration and Surprise Center material from FW Friends.  We'll still have a large group opening for 30 minutes, followed by age level groups for the remaining 30.  We won't have the DVD to go with the music, but we'll still have the great music to sing.  It's not exactly what we want, but in lieu of LIO, it'll have to do.  We just couldn't face going back to the old format of hour-long age level classes with student books and lots of teacher prep.  All these various pieces/parts can be ordered a la carte from your rep and I was relieved to know that we can be on a standing order with all of them so this situation doesn't have to be "re-managed" every month.

Unfortunately, some who have posted have had no interaction from their reps.  That's a shame, because Steve feels like a friend and I really feel like he understands our church's needs.  I felt like he was diasppointed for us that LIO wasn't going to be available next year.  Same for Deb.  It's nice to have the webboard to vent, but it is her unfortunate job to be on the receiving end of our crabbiness and disappointment.  Thanks to her for trying her best to relay info to us and offer what suggestions she can to help us carry on.

I hope everyone will post what changes they're going to make and which direction they'll now be going in.  It'll help us all to continue to share ideas.

I agree..my rep and Deb both obviously care that they cannot offer this anymore to those of us that love it.

I am using a combo KOW & FW as a back-up plan but am really trying to find something that will better suite our situation.  I'd really like to find something that has a consistent and strong video lesson component.  We still like to do things live at least once a month but for us, that is all we are consistently (with quality) able to do.  I loved that Group's clips were reasonable in length but there was still plenty of relationship building time for leaders and kids.

Currently, I'm gathering samples, reviewing surveys from my staff and putting finishing touches on my priority list of our needs.  I'm really trying to spend time talking with staff and sharing what I'm seeing.  They have provided some great feedback and ideas for me.

I just want to add my voice to this topic.  We began using LIO in January after searching for 1 year to find a curriculum that worked for our church and the vision we have for Kids Ministry.  Because we started in January I think we will have enough to keep us until the end of 2007 but then what?  I hate the thought of going back to the search again for something that works for our church.  Our teachers love LIO - Preschool all the way up to our grade 5&6 ministry (with some modifications for gr 5 & 6).  Last Sunday the kids got their memory makers from a module and they were thrilled!  ( more importantly to me - I heard a preschooler run to their parents and say their Bible verse!)  My plan today was to go and tell another church in area how much we love LIO and suggest it to them but how can I do that when there isn't going to be more? Which I guess continues the cycle of not enough people buying it.

So anyways, we love LIO in Canada too!

Thanks, Beth, for sharing your thoughts! No update yet, but I do hope to give you more news on schedule at the end of the month. We are working on this and thoughts of how we can get Living Inside Out back into production. We have one option we have already ruled out (and the feedback of everyone here on this forum has helped). So keep checking back in here, as this is the first place we'll get any new info posted.

And for the other church you were going to tell, we still have 12 modules, and I'd certainly want to make sure that they know up front that (currently) this is a program with 12 modules. For some churches, that may work.

We're praying for you and your ministries, and we certainly appreciate your prayers as well.

God bless!
