Awesome link!  I wish I'd seen that earlier.  Oh well . . . . just give me ideas for next year!

We used LARGE washers  (bought a box at Lowe's . . .think it was 50 in box ) which worked perfect.  No drilling, no sharp edges, sturdy & CHEAP.   Then we used glue dots for the kids to attach jewels to the washers, plastic lanyard   (that you can find at most any craft store) and colored paper clips to shape into fish and attach to the necklaces.  They really looked great!  Good luck!

Love your idea. Considering I'm an 'ole farm girl, I can just head out to the shed and shop.

How did you attach the paperclip fish and what size of paperclips did you use?

THANKs for your awesome idea.

Hey, has anyone had any issues about the bulla disks being "pagan" ? As I was looking at other websites for ideas, they all talk mostly about how they are good luck charms. As I presented it to one of my shopkeepers, she thought we should drop it entirely. Any thoughts on how to address this? Right now, I am thinking it is not much different from us wearing charm bracelets, lockets, or cross necklaces.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Merrilee

We are explaining to the kids that the Roman parents used Bullas as good luck charms but since we are putting stones with crosses on them, our Bullas are a reminder that God's love is always with us.  We talk about how because we have God to protect us and be with us we don't need good luck charms.  That way they still have the fun of making the Bullas, they learn another fact about Roman children and we get to reinforce the daily bible point.
