Hi VBS Directors. I noticed your conversation and wanted to pass along some great news. I work on the VBS Web Toy Box and appreciate your feedback so much. We are planning to make the forms customizable next year. We'll discuss all your suggestions as we shape the 2008 version of the Web Toy Box.

Also, I wanted to make sure you knew that you can currently go in and remove volunteer positions from the drop down boxes. We added an 'edit volunteer positions' link. Simple uncheck the positions you'd like to remove (either because you don't need them or they have been filled). Click submit and you're set.

Hope you find this helpful. Keep the great ideas and feedback coming! God bless your VBS!

Thanks Jill for all the hard work you put in for us. One suggestion I have -is there any way that the staff list could be arranged by category not by the order that the names are put in?  For example, all station leaders together, all elementary crew leaders, etc. Also in the "other" category could we possibly be able to put in what area the "other" would be.

Again, thanks for your hard work and for coming up with yet another way to make our job easier!

Hi Theresa. Actually, you can already sort by position. If you click on the Role heading at the top of the Staff page, it will sort by position. All of the underlined headers provide sort funtionality for that column.

In terms of the notation of what position folks assigned to other will hold, we don't have a way to enable you to list that. However, we are working on upgrades to the 2008 Web Toy Box that should provide a higher degree of flexibility and customization.

Thanks so much and God bless your VBS!

Warm Regards and Blessings,

Jill Foye

Thanks Jill for that information, but I must be doing something wrong. When I click on the role link, all it does it bring the name at the bottom to the top. When I click again it just moves everything back the way it was. If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd appreciate it.

Does anyone know if it possible to have the child's crew exported to excel?

I need that information along with the names to make the name tags and attendance sheet for each crew each night

If not possible, maybe for next year.

thanks

I second the suggestion for an optional teeshirt size box (maybe a drop down menu?) for both the children's registration form and for the staff form. I asked people to add that info to the comments box, but they haven't been doing it so far.

I'd also like to request a check box for "Would you like a CD for your family?" Again, this could be optional.

Thanks for such a great tool!

I'd really like to see one for the HolyLand Adventure Series, too!

I like the idea of customizing the lists.   I ask visitors if they know anyone from our church (so I can get them in a crew with someone they know) and what their home church is.

I'd like it if the printed page included the comments box, so that those don't get missed.   The only way to see those (that I can tell) is to export to Excel or open each individual registration.

We do not have a functioning nursery during VBS.   A lot of parents of 3 year olds are checking "nursery" rather than "preschool".   I assume this is because their child has not yet gone to "preschool".   So I agree that  we need to be able to customize the ages a little more.

I'm actually getting more volunteers than I expected in this process, including some parents I wouldn't have thought to call (including a professional chef who runs a catering company and wants to lead snacks!)

I also wish they could pay online, but that might not be reasonable.

Heidi-

Harcourt has a game for kids to play for Avalanche Ranch. You could put the link on your Web Toy Box.

My suggestion is to make the fields on the Web forms coorespond exactly with the paper registration forms in the director's manual.  We've had several folks just want to register right then at church and then I have to enter their information myself.

We have loved the tool box this year, just wish it was as easy to change everyone else's habits!

Chris
