Every spring, our directors ask our current volunteers if they plan to serve next year. Some answer right away, other tell us they haven't decided yet and others simply don't respond after several contacts.
It's May. We NEED to recruit and want to be intentional about who we ask, but we really don't know HOW many people we need or WHERE they will serve until we get commitments from our current volunteers.
How do you get commitments in a timely manner?
Got any suggestions?????

we usually have pastor make an announcement for the need for teachers for the new year, also put in the bulletin and on screen....old teachers will probably begin to let you know as they may think you're recruiting new teachers. also, new people may step forward saying they want to teach. if you have more than needed you can perhaps have them serve as substitutes. if you have made the personal phone call and personal contact and haven't heard a response, and you've given a time line then i would move on...

| If you find the need for an answer by a specific time, so tell your volunteers. Most will answer if there's a deadline to do so. I do like the idea of sharing some teaching positions if you do end up with more than one volunteer for a position.
