| I have a second interview coming up with a church for this position but I have no experience with childrens ministry. I got a heads up that it would be beneficial to know how to impliment both the children's and youth ministries. I know that as a director, it has to start with empowering the leaders but from there (especially for children's ministry) I wouldn't know yet what the next steps would be. Any ideas anyone?

I'm the youth and children's pastor at our church. I had no children's ministry experience. I made it clear that I don't teach children or any of that. But I did step in and administrate the children's ministry working with the volunteers to equip and resource them to do the ministry. I spoke to the children a couple of weeks ago for the first time in almost 8 years.
I would look for the key leader, a point person, make that person the children's ministry team coach and work with them and and come along side of them to help them make the children's ministry the best.
I would visit some churches a little bigger than we are and see how they are hitting it out of the park with children's ministry and see if there is something we could implement that they are doing.
We launched Kidmo a couple of years ago and the kids love it and are learning. My son was quoting verses at age 3 and telling me the one thing he learned about God that day in Lil K. Our volunteers love it.
