Since people are asking and I figured out how to attach the picture...

I pre-cut the leather into about 2-3” by  6”  strips. I made a cardboard template to use to make the “scallops” if desired. (Just used scissors.) You can always add more felt or use ribbons instead.

Anklet Dance Bells

Each Anklet requires: 1 piece of “leather” (we used cheap, discount vinyl from Joanns), 5 bells (3 bells for preschool size), 2 felt strips, and 1 length of hemp cord.

Take strip of leather.

Punch holes in the leather, - 7 evenly spaced across the top and 2 located on the bottom (see picture).

In each of two larger holes (near the scalloped edges), tie a strip of felt or ribbon through the hole.

Using cord, thread through the other holes, picking up the jingle bells.

It is best to start with the middle hole. Fold the cord in half. Then string the bell on and center it in the middle of the cord. Thread both ends of the cord through the middle hole from the front to the back. Pull one end of the cord through the next hole, thread a bell on and insert the end through the hole to the back. Repeat with each bell. Pull cord through last hole & loop around the end to secure the cord.

Tie in a bow knot (like your shoes) around ankle to secure and so that the anklet can be taken on & off.

(We actually have about 50 left of the vinyl pre-cut, the jingle bells, the cord (I think), and the felt. If anyone wants them, let me know & you can have them for $20 including shipping.)

We're in Iowa but found a local tack shop that repairs saddles, boots, etc. that is saving leather pieces for us that we can cut in strips.
