| I love the idea, but it was just last year that one of the most popular VBS themes was The Pirates that don't do anything. We did that one just for the theme. The curriculum was not near as good as Group's. We did the pirate one because no one was that interested it the Power Lab theme. There is no way we can do another ship at sea theme VBS this soon. Has anyone ever thought about knights and castles, King Arthur style theme? I have an idea for that does a curriculum or the armor of God. Title "A Knight in Shining Armor". We wish you the best with the high seas is sounds great just to soon for us.

| Group hasn't done a medieval themed VBS yet. (This would be one of the top themes that I would love to see Group use for an "Easy" VBS theme.) Another publisher did a medieval themed VBS a while ago but it's hard to find the materials for that one since it's been years since it was released. Have you looked into Group's Egypt yet? I'd be willing to help you with any questions you may have on that one and help you see if it's right for your church. God Bless, Josh

cliffords,
I guess it comes down to brand loyalty...If you stick to Group publishing then the themes dont' really repeat, same with lifeway, ect. but as I have done before if you hop around companies you find repeats and also differences in format.
Honestly we chose lifeway this year because our kids in VA just didn't see the relevance of another US geographic location...we did Austrailia which the kids knew from public school history/geography and these kids are located in a very wealthy suburban lifestyle and they didn't even know what a train station looked like... we had to adapt some of the decor to teach these kids something outside of their normal zone. But I HATED their bible station I threw it in the trash after spending hours trying to figure it out... I've been in VBS for 15 years and couldn't figure it out... I re-wrote the whole bible curriculum and it's not easy like group's... I LOVE Group VBS and am excited about 2010

| This is one of the main reasons I stick with Group, so we don't end up having repeats of themes. Besides the fact that I love their format. My first VBS was Veggietales values and I rewrote the whole program to use less people every day and to cut costs. Next year was Holyword Studios and found out the format I changed VT to was exactly how Group did it. Loved it and have stuck with it since. I don't always like the themes at first, but once I get into it and visit the forum for ideas I fall in love with it. I am already looking into how to build a clipper ship with things we already have. My husband wants to expand our dock next year to fit a huge ship.
