I have a huge question for all of you VBS Directors. I got the Preschool Chadder DVD from my VBS Director yesterday and watched Day 1. I understand why Group repeated the daily Bible Point and Bible Buddy but I'm disappointed with the DVD. I could have gotten up in front of the kids and done that stuff myself. I thought the Preschool DVD was going to be a watered down version or complete different story with Chadder than the Elementary Chadder DVD. I'm debating on whether or not to just run the Elementary DVD for the preschoolers. What do you about this idea?

I'm just really overwhelmed with everything with Crocodile Dock. Many things aren't going right. I feel the stress of the VBS Director when I'm not the VBS Director for Crocodile Dock. Crocodile Dock is in a week for me.

God Bless,

Josh

I showed the Elementary DVD to my 4 yr old son to see what he thought of it and he found it scary. I was kinda surprised at that, but when I asked if he wanted to watch the Crocodile Dock movie again at a later date, he said no...it was too scary.

So with that, I knew we needed to have the preschool dvd for the younger ones.

Hope that helps.

This is our first year of doing Group's VBS. I also showed the Elementary Chadder DVD it to  my 5 year old and she thought it was scary as well. I have ordered the Preschool DVD but have not received it yet and our VBS starts tomorrow! Any suggestions for alternative videos until my copy is shipped? I've thought about showing a part of "Flo - the lying fly" from Hermie & Friends (Max Lucado).

We used the Preschool DVD basically because we did get complaints from the leaders that last years Chadder was scaring the smaller kids.  Our preschoolers and 3-year olds watched the DVD and I also had our pastor & a preschool leader do the puppet portion as was shown in the curriculum.  WOW -- our kids LOVED it!!!  Our only complaint is for Group to put the lyrics on the song at the end of each days video - for the leaders to help the kids.  My 5-year old daughter was in the PS room and would talk about the information that was on the DVD - that crocs and gators are cousins; etc. etc.  She really did get a lot out of it!  Our kids absolutely loved Chadder and the DVD.  I recommend trying it - I do think the older version is a little scary for the younger set.

We just finished our CrocDock week, and our little guys liked the preschool version very much. The first night, things went very well, but the second night, the DVD wouldn't play. We took it home and tried it, and it still didn't work. We tried again the next night, and it did not work, so our Chadder's leader showed the older kid's version. The kids were upset and stayed upset about it. I hated that we did what we should by buying the younger version and then because it quit working, really had to show the older one and it wasn't suitable. I would say that you should take the advice of Group's field test and other directors' opinions, but if you find yours doesn't work for some reason, do something different than showing the older version.

This is my first year to be Station Leader instead of Helper. I just found this forum and all the information about the DVD being too scary for the preschoolers. We don't have time to get a preschool DVD sent before our VBS starts. Does anyone have any ideas what we could do? Any help from those who have already been through this VBS would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

How about showing a veggie tales video on Moses instead and just show a little bit each day? Not sure if that helps but I think I would look for another religious video on the same subject matter from the local Bookstore or religious store.
Good luck!
