We REALLY wanted to use the lights but because of cost we just couldn't do it.  But we still wanted to do the God sightings so we are making dragonflies and they add a lot to our swamp stomp room.  Every day they get a new piece of the dragonfly so one day they get the body, the next 4 days they get a wing.  (all from colored construction paper).  In order for their dragonfly to be complete on Friday they have to come every day  and be able to tell their crew leader about their God Sighting.  It seems to be working well, so I want to encourage you if your group can't afford all the lights, find an alternative way to do the sightings.

Because He Allows,
Jen

We're doing something similar to that. I just used the firefly pattern from the Director's Manual for the donations to create fireflies for the God Sightings. I traced the outline and photocopied them onto yellow/golden rod paper.

God Bless,

I came up with an idea I wanted to share.  It seemed very expensive to purchase the number of tea lights we need for 100 kids.  I also didn't want to have to turn those little lights on and off each day.  So, instead we are using foam craft glow star stickers...crews will add one sticker to the set each day to represent their God sightings.  This is a cheap option and I think will look nice when we turn off the lights and show them how God's light can shine.  I searched online and found the ideal ones at a site called createforless.com.  Just search under glow stars.

We are doing the Glow in the Dark stars as well.   After VBS we are going to move the stars to our Children's church area and add them to the ceiling there.

I wanted to share a cheap resource I found.  I got mine through abcdistributing.com they were $5.95 for 12.  They have the soft flexible tips like the sample in the pack.  PERFECT!
