We got brought in for our garage sale this year a bunch of something that is between rope and yarn. I think it might have been for macrame. We snagged that. Used some for the pillars this year on the dock but I'm thinking of figuring out how to make a rope net used for climbing on ships. We have a huge amount of it.

We made great wood patterned crates out of cardboard boxes for Serengeti. We borrowed wooden barrels for AR. We will do both of those again. We have our dock, too. I was thinking of resurrecting a couple of the carpet tube/umbrella palm trees and having a small island in some corner of the stage. Water waves out of foam are easy. I'm checking hobby lobby and joann fabric ads for fabric sales for another bolt of 108" wide muslin: I'm making a new backdrop this year with shades of light blue dye for the sky, a darker blue for the water, and white areas left undyed for clouds. I have some party supply catalogs, and I know that one of them has a 4 foot plastic anchor, and a very large ships wheel. I'll pass it on when I find it again. White sailor hats, tricorn hats, red and white horizontal striped boat neck shirts, jeans rolled up to the knees. Bandana's tied with sailor knots. Fake mustaches.
I may have my hubby whittle a GIGANTIC crochet hook out of wood, and use rope (or your macrame cord) to do a very loose double (maybe triple) crochet. I think it will turn out like the rope ladders on the ships. The woodgrained paper from Stumps is great, but if you have a talented painter, they can woodgrain. Our talented Virginia made our crew signs look like wooden planks this year out of foam. Everyone thought they were wood. Now I just want to figure out how to incorporate our pull-down screen into one of the sails on the ship. Hmmmm.
Blessings!
Connie

| We made a shack for croc dock, and are storing it for next summer. Also we had the large cardboard rolls that carpet it one when shipped (ask as carpeting store)- once the rolls were cut at varying heights (2, 3 feet) the mini rolls were grouped in sets of 3 and glued/ tied together with brown rope. Great dock/ sea side element.
