I always use Group's VBS. When we started planning for this summer's VBS we did look at another company at the urging of the senior pastor. I handed the items off to my main help and they came back and said they didn't want to change - ever! Group's quality is always higher than any other. Now I have changed churches and started here just in the planning stages for their VBS. At my urging we went with Crocodile Dock. I don't think this church will ever change again either! People are amazed at the enthusiasm of the kids and how the Bible lessons really stick with them. They were also amazed at the little extra things that are included in Group's VBS. They had never experienced the SpotLight Drama and it was a hit!

I am tempted from time to time to select a VBS based on the theme but then I remember that the theme should never be the deciding factor when choosing a curriculum that can have an eternal effect on kid's lives.

We love Group, but we consider several factors before making our choice. We check out the overall theme, then the Bible points, and then the music. We've found that the music is key to getting the kids to participate and get excited. We used Group the last 3 years, but not this year. We all felt that the Croc Dock Bible points were too similar to Power Lab and I didn't love the music...it was good, but Power Lab was a hard act to follow. This year we used Cokesbury's Camp EDGE. We had a wonderful week worshipping with the kids, but today was our last day and I always feel compelled to check out what's new for next year...it's a sickness I have. I like the High Seas theme, I really like the Bible, and I'm waiting to see what's up with the music. The Egypt theme looked interesting too, but the Bible was a little too OT focused. Our church uses VBS as an outreach and we feel that it's important to present both OT and NT, and to stress that now our hope is in Jesus. It would be great to work with Group again next year.

Our church has used Gospel Light in the past (for many years) but I volunteered to direct last year on the condition that we do Power Lab.  I agree, PL was a HARD act to follow and I didn't think I would enjoy the Crocodile Dock theme this year nearly as much.  BUT I was surprised to find that I am enjoying the theme immensely.  I love the FEAR NOT theme, it is so appropriate for our current economy/country status.  My husband just came in and told me that last year VBS exploded to a whole new level when we started using Group.  I'm sold!!!

We just completed our 12th year of Group's VBS.  We did a little investigating last year of other VBS programs and decided to stick with Group.  There is always one or two components that we wanted that the other programs did not have.  However, we do not purchase all of the advertised material -- it would be too costly.  You have to adjust according to your budget.  We are fortunate to have some very creative folks.

My Church has used Group and only Group for at least 10 years. I first started doing the decor for Lava Lava. My old Church used Sonlight. I tried to get our director to look at Sonlight products when I first came here......simply because that was what I was used to. Boy am I glad that she stuck with Group! Now we don't even look at anything else. Our vbs runs like clockwork because everyone knows how the "program" works. The amazing thing is that sometimes I'm not crazy about the theme when it is first announced: like Power Lab and Croc Doc. But, when it all came together, Power lab was fabulous, and THIS year was the best year we have EVER had. I just have to get used to the new theme each year and give it time for it to grow on me, LOL.
