Just go to www.webshots.com and search for my username (kandjsmama) and then look for my albums. Then you will see my photos from Rome, Avalanche Ranch, Fiesta, and Serengeti Trek. Thanks

First of all, we did the Underground Church much differently. I thought that surely there was a better way to make a realistic cave than "black plastic" We used the painted canvas dropcloths that we had from previous Bible Schools. We actually built a tunnel leading to our cave and we also covered the walls with painted dropcloths and brown paper dropcloths covered our ceiling. We used battery torches that we purchased from www.tikizone.com but the lights went out by day 3. So we had to use battery candles, like you use at Christmas. We are a very small church, but we go all out when it comes to VBS. We also make our Bible Study the biggest part of our VBS, so it has to look fantastic. The kids loved it and they told us that Bible Study was their favorite part of VBS. We built the wall (that leads you into Paul's house) last year for Jerusalem Marketplace. It was great to use it again this year. We also used the fake rocks from the well last year and put them in various places in our Underground Church. We used our fake campfire from a previous VBS.

Our craft leader did only one craft that the kids worked on every night til the last night. It was Roman Soldier helmets made from paper mache. Oh my goodness the kids loved it!!!

Please see our photos , follow this link and if you have any questions, I'd be glad to answer them for you, thanks, Kim

Thanks for the pictures! Your set is absolutely fabulous! We are painting the same scene on sheets, but the 3 D effect is so cool. Thanks for posting them!

Hi, thanks for your comment. I was afraid that people couldn't click on that link, would you do me a favor and click this one and see if it works. It does on my computer, but I'm thinking that it's because I'm already signed in on webshots. It sounds like your VBS will be great too.I  love the stairs idea. Thanks and God bless!

Your decorations are wonderful!  I especially love how you suspended the fabric from the ceilings.  Would you mind sharing how you did this?  Did you use wood strips or PVC? And how are they attached to the ceiling?  Many thanks for the great ideas!

Sure, I used dropped ceiling hooks. You can buy them from Lowes, they come in a pack of 4. They are plastic little things that clip to the metal things that hold up your dropped ceiling. I cannot have VBS without them. I guess I have about 50 of them. Then I also used T-pins (bought at Walmart) The pins just stick right into the dropped ceiling tiles and they hold up really well. The only thing that  we used PVC pipe for was the frames that my shops were made from. We just put eye hooks in the pipe and used more ceiling hooks to hold them up. Then we put cloth over the frame. This makes instant shops that look great. I'd be glad to help with anything else. Thanks and God Bless

Thank you so much.  The other thing I noticed in the pictures was your beautiful tall palm tree in the background of your main set.  Did you buy this or make it?  If you made it, would you share how you did it?  We have some carpet tubes we are planning to use for the base of ours, but I am not sure how to do the fronds-and yours are beautiful.  Many thanks!!
