Our church had 55 kids at VBS so we are sending 55 Comfort Critters. We took up money each night to purchase the Bibles to send with the Critters. I explained to the kids that when natural disasters strike, children lose everything including their favorite stuffed animals and their Bibles, if they had one. We wanted to raise enough money to send 55 Bibles with our 55 Turtles, which would be $550.

I was so amazed at our total!! Our kids alone raised about $465. We then challenged the adults to see if they could help us reach our goal or exceed it. Well, they did jsut that!1

Our grand total for the week was $1000.00!!! God is so good!! Our church has NEVER raised this much money at VBS before. It was truly awesome to find out how much we raised for the Bibles. Now we can send enough money to pay for the 55 Bibles to go with our Comfort Critters as well as extra to buy more Bibles for other churches who may only send the Critters.

Our church also liked that the items were going to help children in our own country. They need to know the Lord too. We are also keeping some Turtles to give to children in our own community who lose their homes to fire. Our local electric company is also letting us include personalized notes from the kids and the Survivors Books as well.

This was a great missions project!!
