I have seen a few comments on the bags of flour used for one of the games. My games leader had a wonderful idea for this. Why does it have to be flour if all you need is 90 pounds of something per group? We asked the congregation to help us collect 200 pounds (I rounded up) of non perishable food items for an activity during our VBS. We will donate the food to our local food pantry. The kids are having a great time rounding up food and weighing them. We will announce how much we have so far this week and how much more we need. This is our mission project this year.

Wanted to thank you for this idea.  Our local economy is really hurting and so is our church food pantry.  We have collected a ton of food this week.  I would never have thought of this.  Bless you

Our food pantry was very excited about the amount of food we dropped off - over 250 pounds with less than 20 kids attending our VBS - yes we are a very small church. Make sure you use only the canned goods for the game. We had previously set aside the glass goods but didn't think about the boxes or bags. We had a few boxes break open and a bag of flour scattered all over the grass. The kids loved and even had some of the older ones carry the 90 pounds "Army bags" by themselves. A huge success!
