| Lots of fun with MOSAIC CROSSES Taken from a product seen in a catalog, we created a fun, easy, and inexpensive mosaic cross. In Roman times, mosaics were frequently used in home decor, for floors, walls, and artwork. A member of our team really wanted to incorporate this practice in our Rome. This is how we did it: Materials: pack of 4x6 adhesive backed foam sheets in variety of colors, scissors, foam pieces with spiritual sayings, 3-D glue dots Pre-cut crosses from the foam sheets and use the left-over pieces to cut into the mosaic pieces. We found hearts and rectangle shapes that had phrases such as "God is Love," and the like. After the kids adhered the "tiles" to their cross, they could adorn the center of the cross with one of these phrase pieces with a 3-D glue dot or two. Have scissors handy so they can cut down the foam tiles to fit in the spaces on their cross. Because the tiles were cut from the adhesive backed foam sheets, there is no need to use glue and no drying time. Also, the cross itself has the adhesive backing and can be adhered to card stock or construction paper. We sent the kids home with their crosses un-stuck to anything, suggesting they can stick it to their door (with parent's permission), notebook, or something personal. We loved this craft. Not only was it inexpensive, and simple to do, but it produced a really great looking cross!
