We are considering using Buzz this coming year and will be combining 2nd & 3rd grades. Which level would be more appropriate for this age range? The 1 & 2nd grade or the 3rd & 4th? Thanks.

We are sort of in the same boat..We've got a super small children's ministry right now..a few preschoolers (we're doing the pre-k and k for them) and a few mis-matches...3rd grader and a few 4th graders and a 5th grader. We went with the 3-4th grade (Crime and Punishment). This program seems so adaptable that even if it is all little too advanced or whatever, that we can change it and go from there for the next quarter!

We normally recommend getting the higher age level so that older kids have a great experience and the younger kids learn from the older ones. However, there is not a lot of change between those two age levels. But if you have very immature 2nd graders and you are using 3rd & 4th grade, you may need to pay extra attention to how those children are understanding the material to see if you need to make any adjustments.

One other thing to note: the Grades 1-2 kit doesn't require children to read, but the Grades 3-4 one does. So if you go with the older age level, you may need the older kids to help the 2nd graders who aren't strong readers yet.
